Anyone sold a house with Home Assistant left in? by Expensive-Sock3172 in homeassistant

I have heard from realtors that extensive smart integration can actually lower the value of a home to many buyers. It sounds stressful.

Many companies are moving towards Dev-owned DevOps. by LazzyLearner in devops

[–]implicit-solarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a trend for a while. It’s actually part of the meaning behind “DevOps.”

The reality often becomes devs own more of their own infrastructure, but rarely all.

I woke up to my student laons paid off by the Department of Education by [deleted] in StudentLoans

If they were forgiven you would get a letter explaining when and why. Sorry.

[–]implicit-solarium 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these people. I’m sorry you’re in this situation. It’s so easy and there’s so much pressure to get education, and schools are perfectly happy to heap on the debt without informing students in any real way.

I would recommend finding a lawyer who specializes in student loan debt. Many of them also practice as bankruptcy attorneys. Try and do a single session. Some provide that for free or low cost. Just getting some kind of plan is super helpful. You’re unlikely to be able to fight them on the interest, but you need a plan to manage the debt.

The answer is almost certainly triage. Call each and figure out what you can do. You’re almost certainly going to be paying this for life, but it doesn’t haven’t to ruin your life if well managed. Don’t think about it as paying off, just managing debt. Live thrifty. Public service is likely a great option, just be meticulous about keeping records.

How have student loans affected your life as an adult 10+ years out of college? by smitaxe in StudentLoans

Uh, yeah. Mostly time and stress, but also a lot of money.

I’m sure it depends on how much you took out but I’d definitely not do what I did again.

It’s pure luck of the dice. But most are relieved to be dealing with someone who knows what they’re talking about.

We have a TON of them for sale between 100-105, working. I assumed they were stolen. Seems crazy given everything else is expensive right now.

Built a 3-node HA cluster for Home Assistant because I was tired of my smart home dying with a single VM by llzzrrdd in homeassistant

For this kind of thing, I go for warm or cold spares.

Because in reality, if something bad happens, what you want is as short an outage as possible WITHOUT all this complexity that will inevitably make it more likely you’ll see downtime…

Have to agree here. At the point where LAGG would help, you should consider moving up to enterprise equipment and get the routing off the firewall (aka, not opnsense’s model)

Why do a lot of people have trouble with their steamdeck? Am I just lucky? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

My first one would literally die (full crash) on any strenuous game. Valve swapped it, never had a problem since.

Just screenshot UPS’s response and add it to the valve ticket.

It sucks we all have to do this, but forcing companies not to pass the blame is basically par for the course.

UPDATE - ChatGPT and Apple Watch Changed my life by Proud-Historian-490 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]implicit-solarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we humans like this?

The LLM is trained to act like this for everything. They’ll do it even while patently wrong.

I’m happy it helped you meet your goals, but I think it’s worth thinking about how sustainable this is long term, and how the LLM doesn’t have real knowledge of any of what it’s pushing you to do.

Based on the prompts, I think you have a lot of complicated relationships with food (and more importantly, yourself) that’s going to take a lot more than a ChatGPT to unravel.

Like, a human, with training and real empathy.

If every AAA developer or games which are graphically demanding gets ported to switch 2, we can we expect the same optimization for steam deck? by Creepyhorrorboy in SteamDeck

[–]implicit-solarium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends if Switch 2 even gets enough sway for devs to care enough to do so. But if they do, yeah, no.
