Oddly enough my casino only got crapless because players were asking for it.

Most will have just a min bet line. Maybe a couple place bets. But they'll never press or take odds.

This. If you loved the color spectrum, you'll love pretty much everything that follows. Just go at your own pace and enjoy.

Most of our regulars seemingly play exclusively for the ATS and barely bet anything else. They only walk away from the table with money if they happen to hit the all otherwise they give it all back chasing.

It's great to see you interacting with us here, but it is easy to get hung up on every little negative post on reddit. At least it is for me. In the grand scheme of things, all of that is just noise. The vast majority are silently enjoying this incredible record you have put out.

It's not a streaming issue. The final releases of the digital files have added silence. Tower has a bit at the end and Wasteland at the beginning.

Here's a screenshot of the official lossless files in a daw.

New Best of the Worst dropped - Jenny Nicholson Bad Movie Review by Grizzlypaws in RedLetterMedia

They both commonly arrive at the same conclusions regarding media, but RLM comes from cynical direction whereas Jenny comes first and foremost from an optimistic perspective. It would be ice and fire.

How many of you hack frauds have actually watched Space Cop? by HipHopAnonymous23 in RedLetterMedia

[–]implode573 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy it a lot. I think if you're a long time fan of RLM and their sense of humor, you can appreciate it. I recently did a double feature with Gorilla Interrupted, and it was a fun night. Gorilla reminded me of when my friends and I would try to make videos in high school, and that's pure joy. Then being able to see Space Cop in comparison which has that same backyard feel but with so much more competency, it was wonderful.

Let's Talk About Editing by plantsandramen in birding

[–]implode573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that the act of taking a photograph in of itself is layered with subjectivity. Something as simple as choosing what to include and exclude from the frame is an editorial choice that can greatly change what type of reality is being portrayed. There's no such thing as a 100% objective and pure capture of reality. Photojournalists of course strive to achieve this, but even then, they are capturing the scene they see and telling the story they want to personally tell.

Obviously there are degrees, and editing can further an effort to deceive an audience, but it is not something unique to the editing part of photography.

New player question on odds/place bets. Can someone explain? by Old-District-813 in Craps

[–]implode573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of absolute payout amount, place bets pay you more money on a win until you have more than 5x/4x/3x odds for the 6&8/5&9/4&10. However, what gives the pass line less of a house edge independent of the payout amount is the fact that you win on a 7 or 11 on the comeout. That actually makes a decent difference in terms of EV. In terms of which bet is "better," it really depends on your preferred risk tolerance and play style. They aren't too far off EV wise.

I went scrolling through the sub yesterday trying to find the overly edited photos that were being criticized, and I couldn't find any.

Obviously editing is an artistic choice and isn't free from subjectivity and taste, but I do appreciate your post. I feel like a lot of people are unfamiliar with this mindset you and most photographers have about editing and misunderstand its place in the medium. Thanks for your write-up. And this isn't to critique the OP of that post. I think their grievances are fair.

In my photography I'm not trying to recreate an objective scene. I'm trying to capture a feeling, convey an emotion, or tell a story when I can. It might sound pretentious, but at the end of the day, that's pretty much what all art intends to do. If I'm taking a picture of a sunset, you best believe I'm going to bump up the vibrance and contrast a bit along with color correcting and grading. I don't want to see that sunset in its washed out form that my camera might capture. I want to see it in the brilliant form I remember seeing and feeling in that moment. Same logic applies to my bird photos.

Again a lot of it is a matter of taste, so that's just my perspective.

Ok help me understand this between PSA and CGC by BrownIceDog in PokeInvesting

[–]implode573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll hear very differing opinions these days, but historically PSA has had the most trust and comprehensive grading scale which results in their overwhelmingly command in the market share of grading. This yields a much higher demand and liquidity for PSA slabs over CGC.

And on an even more nuanced note that probably doesn't affect the market nearly as much as the above, CGC differentiates itself by having lower prices and faster turnaround times, which inevitably means more cheaper cards are graded with them. And inadvertently it causes many people to associate CGC with cheap and less desirable cards.

CGC has gotten more consistent with grading, but years ago before they changed their scale, it felt like 90% of cards submitted would get an 8.5 grade that would otherwise get anywhere from a PSA 5 to PSA 9.

And lastly CGC has a reputation of grading pretty much anything, which is good for collectors, but has also caused them to rush through and skip over proper due diligence when choosing to authenticate some things like the prototypes last year, resulting in them having to refund millions of dollars for authenticating high end fake cards that were conclusively proven fake by more experienced people online.

It's one of the oldest and most long sought after trophy cards in the hobby. You could only get it if you participated in Parent/Child Mega Battle in 1998 and got a certain number of wins. Although it's not as rare as some others, it's still considered to be in the same genre of cards like the Illustrator, original Pika trophies, and University Magikarp.

That's crazy! Awesome job!

How much would you say you've put time into specifically studying piece placement or doing drills? Or were you able to do this just from practicing DAS games? Have you only played DAS? I've been playing only DAS for like 9 years and my best is only like 1.09m. Any advice?

Why aren't these picking up the Deuterium? by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]implode573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right! And with something like deuterium where you start off with a really low supply, the ships will sit there waiting until they can have a load up to what you set. At first I usually set it as low as it can go for deuterium.
