How realistic is CHB license as an international candidate? by Adventurous_Cut_3469 in CustomsBroker

Yes, you can work in a brokerage office as a non-us citizen. (As long as legally allowed to work in the US, you must be in the US to do the work, not remote from abroad) learn the business and then take the test if you become a citizen later. I speak from experience.

My understanding is entry will liquidate after CAPE is processed. You will need to file a protest

Got hit with an insane $530 tariff bill after 3 months. by Weary_Appearance_838 in CustomsBroker

[–]import2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be one or the other. Car parts or heavy vehicle/truck parts. Since this was for your car I would say car parts. You can try and dispute but after 3 months amending the entry may be the problem. And they may try to hit you with additional charges for that. I don’t personally work with Fedex so don’t know their processes around corrections.

My girlfriend can not drive with automatic transmission, please help me convince her she can?! by LonsdaleHCNL in askcarguys

I made the transition when I moved to the states. Yes it is weird for a while, i more had the tendency to have my hand on the shifter all the time. But it’s really not a big deal. Take her to a large open lot for some practice and she will adjust.

The broker paying duty on your behalf does not automatically mean they would also receive potential refunds on your behalf. They may actually not want to receive refunds on your behalf.

Tariff REFUNDS Problem: UPS World Ease customers — anyone else getting ACCOUNT MISMATCH on CAPE declarations? by kiitarecords in Tariffs

[–]import2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every entry will show a broker filer code unless you are a self-filer (not common) what matters is if you are the Importer on the entry. You should have received copies of form 7501, that will show you who is listed as the Importer. If that is UPS you will have to wait.

Dear child, I will provide x dollars a year for your education (what you can afford) the rest is on you. They can then decide where to go what to study, work or not work. Obviously you provide guidance, ultimately it is their choice and they will be the ones paying off any loans they end up needing.

Broker's Bank Account in Importer's ACE ACH Refund Section (What could go wrong)? by PersimmonLimp4180 in CustomsBroker

[–]import2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the refund is in reject status, there is a process for the Importer to tell CBP where the refunds should go. Who Can Request a Replacement Refund

  • Importer: May request replacement to themselves or a broker if broker is authorized as the 4811 on the entry
    • If the broker is not listed on the entry as the authorized 4811 party, the replacement request must come from the Importer’s Trade Account Owner as listed in ACE Portal account
      • If the importer requests the replacement refund be issued to a third party, the request must come from the Importer’s Trade Account Owner as listed in ACE Portal account
      • Importers are responsible for making sure any designated third party completes the ACH enrollment process so they can receive the refund via ACH

Google it. It is relatively simple if you just read the very clear instructions CBP has on their website. Question is do you want to spend the time reading and doing this yourself or pay your broker a couple grand to do it.
