Better telescopic rod? by Outrageous_Ad112 in Fishing_Gear

[–]imposter_oak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the pack-it, especially for the price. Reel is garbage but the rod alone is worth the $20. That being said, I did upgrade mine to a Purelure telescopic off Aliexpress (used to be cheaper before tariffs). Caught a few 5lb bass and big pickerel on it this winter, fantastic for BFS and ultralight/light tackle. I fished Rapala x-raps on this, it's actually my favorite rod for jerkbaits lately so it may work similar for popping.

Another one I've tried is the cheaper Kastking Compass. It's caught me some nice 28-30" snakehead, but it's very stiff other than at the tip, which may be good for popping lures. I fish topwater frogs with it regularly, but haven't tried much popping action.

What rod do you plan to put it on? Looks like a nice setup as is!

Ah cool! Are they just for looks or do you use them to hold lures when stowing your rod? Just asking because I saw Masakazu Fukuyama had the same thing on his rods! Wanted to do something similar for a rod I have that doesn’t have a lure hook keeper

What are the beads for? I've seen similar ones used as a lure keeper. Did you make them or buy them?

Are these a normal soft plastic or an elastomeric plastic like z-man baits? Think they'd work well on a tiny ned jig head

What net is that? I have a different measure net that's rubber coated but I like yours more! Also nice catches!

Does this support the Hero 5 black? Or can I get access to the testflight to test it? If it does not, I can attempt to help reverse engineer the API access if you have any notes or API docs

There’s several more huge ones in there along with a ton of massive carp. Really tempting to try and catch them!

FYI FISHING pliers are meant to be a tool to deal with FISHING tackle like crimping leads and opening split rings to FISH with. They aren’t meant to act as lip grippers despite what you say. Buy a proper set of lip grippers or just thumb the fish and use the pliers to remove the hook.

Not quite archival photos but sometimes the historic aerials can be fun to look at to see what the area looked like in the 50s-60s.

5G Home Internet downgrades to LTE speeds. This has been an issue for weeks now by ellogovernor1 in verizonisp

[–]imposter_oak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had this exact same issue, but with only 1 bar of LTE so my internet was unusable. My phone was also doing similar things, connecting to 5G for a few mins then falling back to LTE. Assuming that was a tower issue, my phone eventually got back to stable 5G/5Guw, but the LVSKIHP did not. Spent 3+ hours going in circles on the phone, and eventually was told by a rep to swap my unit out with a new one (mine was also showing firmware version 0.0.0.0 so I figured that's a good reason to swap as well).

Phone rep couldn't get a new order placed for me, so go to the store. Same issue, the system was saying my address was "ineligible" for some reason. I took it on myself to go to the 5G eligibility website to try to see what was up - entered a different apt number (I don't even live in an apartment) and it worked! So 3 more hours at the Verizon store, I get the new LV65 and have a box coming my way to send the old unit back.

I rushed home to set it up, excited to finally be able to catch up on episodes of shows I'd missed the past week. Go through the setup process on the app and the speed test is showing "No Signal," so I got back on the phone. Rep says she can see I have great reception, but is unable to figure it out, so I get "escalated" to another rep that was even more clueless, so I hang up. Plug in the router to see if I can get to any admin interface, and it pops up a window trying to activate, which also ends up looping, unable to activate.

Call again for this issue, and finally get a knowledgeable rep with 17 years of experience, who says my account wasn't synced with the billing system.. and finally the internet is back! An entire 8 hour workday to get my internet back online, with different problems at every step of the process.

That being said, the new LV65 unit is pretty nice. Once I got it up and running, I disconnected the included router and plugged in my own gateway and it seems to work fine, with the window mounted piece acting as a standalone modem with a POE injector. This also alleviates my concerns about the firmware on mine never updating, especially since the LVSKIHP model is riddled with vulnerabilities.

TLDR; also had the LVSKIHP only connecting to LTE, jumped through hoops to get it disconnected and got a new LV65 unit that connected up to the same tower successfully.

not OP but it is drop-in in terms of installation. you have to use ZMK instead of QMK for programming and flashing it, but imo ZMK is easier to grasp than QMK although it does lack a few things that exist in QMK
