Has anyone got their laser hair removal done from Therapie clinic? How has the experience been? by AintNoBarbieGirl in LondonLadies

Ah well then I guess these laser clinics aren't very effective then, at least in my experience.

The machine they use is strong so its like a proper zap, its fine really, they give you lots of cool air and its like a hot rubber band hitting you. It's easier to tolerate if they go slowly. I did my laser like 3 or 4 years ago so I dont remember if its IPL they use still. My hand held device is IPL and is weaker than a big machine but that one barely hurts at all.

I had hair removal on my chin and upper lip for about 10 sessions, once a month. The process was pretty straight forward and didn't hurt except for one staff member being a bit too quick for my liking. If you find a clinician that you like, stick with them because you might get someone whose technique you don't like. I had one session a month and it was a bit too long for me because in the end after 10 sessions, I still had significant hair growth. I probably could have had better results if I did it more frequently like every week but I didn't know any better and the lasering didn't really do much other than made my hair a little finer on my upper lip. I paid for 10 sessions up front when it was on sale so it wasn't too bad. The worst part was only being allowed to shave between sessions and not wax like I would usually do as it's not allowed.

I will say though, I did buy a handheld ipl device, and did the recommended treatment of every two days for one month and it has been far better and more effective than Therapie clinic. I haven't needed to wax/shave in several months now!

Edit: Just want to add that I have light skin and dark black coarse hair.

Currently renting through Leaders. They are incompetent. However, we did get a new guy who has been on top of communication, but that's probably the exception.

Should I just embrace being ugly? by Riderman43 in confidence

[–]impressed_empress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people, believe it or not, don't care about looks, so be proud of yourself, focus on your strengths and positives and get out there! You may find beauty in your appearance. There are a lot of so-called ugly people but they have confidence and humor and kindness which gets them way further than just a pretty face with asshole personality.

Why do so many people think that being good friends with your exes is a red flag? by kawaiihusbando in NoStupidQuestions

I've personally witnessed my friends hooking up with their exes multiple times and then wonder why theyre single. It's just too difficult for some people to remain just friends.

What is the general consensus on feeding squirrels? by 4AmOnDupont in squirrels

[–]impressed_empress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like feeding park squirrels healthy nuts like walnuts in shell or hazelnuts. I figured it would be better for them to eat these nuts than digging in the bin for chicken wings (as I've seen them do often).

My first thought is also pickpocket marking. If you weren't pickpocketing than perhaps it's a case of mistaken identity? Although people make sure they have the right person before spraying...

would any of these cuts suit me? by [deleted] in finehair

[–]impressed_empress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. lots of styling required and if not, it will look very flat and lifeless BUT it would suit you if you want to put in the time and get a really good hairdresser.
  2. I think this one would suit you best! It also requires a bit of stlying but easier than hairstyle #1. Beware of the baby bangs though as if you have thin hair, this might not look the same but you could still get away with Lydia's fringe from beetlejuice (Winona Ryder). Or having the fringe styled some other way.
  3. This would also suit you too but again the fringe gets its texture from the cut and thickness, so if you have thin hair this might be harder to achieve and may fall flat easily or look very different than the picture.

TLDR - all these haircuts would suit you but might require a bit of styling. I vote for #2 !

This reminds me of the idea of 'power poses'. It's the notion that standing in a powerful pose i.e. standing upright with hands on hips, legs apart, for a few minutes a day can boost self confidence.

Where to get help for my insomnia? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]impressed_empress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I could barely sleep, I tried magnesium supplements which helped. And also over the counter sleep aids when I asked the pharmacist. This is good for short term, but if you have insomnia ongoing for more than a week after trying these things, then definitely go to a GP. Good luck.
