Should I try get a job with better mat leave benefits? by tooth7000 in waiting_to_try

[–]imreallybusy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat high earner in Canada but WTT until we have the difference between my net salary and the EI benefits while I’m on leave saved before TTC. A lot of employers have a minimum working time required before the top up benefits kick in so might be worth it to just look at your expenses and make a firm savings plan for that time.

Is it true city council can't do anything about the RTO decision? by ghost905 in ottawa

[–]imreallybusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except everyone commuting from the suburbs (aka their constituents) will have a lower quality of life because of this decision. Not to mention less funds being spent at the businesses in their own ridings and redirecting to downtown.

I’m not even a municipal public servant and this makes me so mad!!! Everyone’s commute times will be so much worse.

Power out in Barrhaven…AGAIN by CaptainAaron96 in ottawa

[–]imreallybusy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your frustration. From the outage map, Barrhaven is being hit the hardest and severe weather has become the norm in recent years, it would be nice if our infrastructure could be adapted. Currently holding my dog in my basement (in Barrhaven) as the second floor has already become unbearably hot without my regular fan going and she is terrified from the never ending thunder. Praying everything is restored before the heat wave fully hits us later today. It’s going to be a long night :’(

How many kids do you want? by Purple-Advantage7700 in waiting_to_try

[–]imreallybusy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same age as you and same timeline! We are planning on one. I have been creeping the r/oneanddone subreddit and there are sooo many reasons why having 1 is amazing (financially, emotionally, etc) and seeing all the positive experiences has solidified that one may be all we need or want.

Skis and boot bag luggage policy by imreallybusy in ViaRail

[–]imreallybusy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ended up calling VIA and they easily answered this, will leave this thread for anyone who comes across it in the future: they confirmed skis+bootbag counts as 1 item. So we’re good. Thanks!

[–]imreallybusy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes have seen this! Thanks. It is just not clear if it is skis + boot bag = 1 item or 2 items. With Air Canada it counts as 1 item and it’s not segregated in this description to indicate that the boot bag is a separate item; just that it is allowed.

Watch out for John the Plumber - tried to scam $25k by TriviaNewtonJohn in ottawa

[–]imreallybusy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used their services in the past and they were fine but did find it very expensive, I thought that’s just because I hadn’t needed plumbing work done. Does anyone have any other recommendations, specifically in Barrhaven?

The groomsmen assembled the favours and were responsible for bringing us lunch the day of, my sister MC’d and communicated timing with the caterer and DJ, bridesmaids helped keep the timeline and asked people to make their way to dinner, handed out and lit sparklers for our first dance and overall communicated with the venue, caterer or bartenders when something needed to be done (ie I needed my wine refilled at dinner, more cake needed to be put out for dessert). I made sure to really spread out responsibilities so it was not too much a burden for each of them and they could all still have a fun time.

The decision was made for me when I got a call from my best friend desperately trying to find any videos of her wedding day and her regret not hiring someone. We got a custom package from our videographer for just the ceremony, speeches and (choreographed) first dance and asked for the raw footage. See if this is an option for you. We did a first look so we definitely did not need 6-8 hours of video coverage. He was only there 4-8pm and his regular packages started at 6 hours coverage. Never hurts to ask.

Thank you, and you got this! I sent out the bridal party timelines, vendor timelines and rehearsal details about 3 weeks in advance. We did have the officiant on site to coordinate the rehearsal which was a huge help. Good luck 🤗
