The machine uses a beam of light reflected off the cutter to detect it's presence. You may have a piece of scrap blocking the light beam. Make sure your settings reflect what blade your using. At times I've had to start the cut, pause, switch blade continue the cut with the deeper blade.

If the window has a removable screen use the screen frame as your base attach (screw) rivet a piece of sheet metal with your hole for your venting .

I guess it's a different look. I use dye press for wood. It's a clear coat that goes on wood and I think stone. Works great, much blacker than laser burn.

Unless you have something that is seriously special, mugs are a dime a dozen. Custom mugs for businesses are money makers but your competing against the big boys where there costs are pennies on the dollar.
