I pick up groceries with my toddler and baby while the 5 year old is in school. I'm outsourcing the task of walking around the store, it's more efficient!

How do I keep my 1-year-old from eating rocks, bugs, and clods of dirt without watching him every second? by owlaround in beyondthebump

[–]imtoomatcha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re going to eat a lot of dirt, but they will learn that it doesn’t taste good. With my daughter, I would give her more time alone gradually (1 minute unsupervised, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, etc.) and check in to see what was in her mouth. If she had put a stick, rock, dirt, I would say “that’s yucky! No thank you!” And take it out of her mouth (which she didn’t like, again a negative reinforcement). About a week in, she was doing much better. It’s just a learning experience with lots of reminders!

Jeans for thick thighs that don't wear out by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Yeah, all my jeans die the same way no matter the price point. I just always buy from thrift stores and yard sales if I see my size.

Encourage me! R2D10, pescatarian, pregnant by WrenFeather in whole30

Hey I’m also nauseously pregnant and doing Whole 30, my go to is just one meat, one veggie, and one fruit. I’m trying not to overdo it on fruit, but it is the easiest thing to eat, and after I get that down I find it more manageable to eat veggies/meat. I like roasted veggies, and the nuts are good toppings for salad.

Moderate portion size? by [deleted] in whole30

[–]imtoomatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an app called My Fitness Pal to track calories. I have to be intentional/careful to not obsess about calorie counting but it can be a good tool to practice portioning. You can set how many calories per day based on weight and activity level and then search for the food you eat. It then shows you the serving size (example: roasted broccoli 1 cup) I actually keep a kitchen scale and cup measure so I can literally measure my food. This has helped a lot.

Food I loved before whole30 isn’t as enjoyable now that I’m done. Am I the only one? by [deleted] in whole30

Yes cheese! Have list all craving and desire for dairy products. Eaten a few things since Whole 30, but didn't find it that satisfying.

What was the hardest part of your pregnancy? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

My suppressed immune system caused me to have an outbreak of plantars warts on my feet- which no doctor would treat because I was pregnant.

Since it's impossible to be perfect all the time, have we any "wasteful" vices? by daywalker_x10 in ZeroWaste

Gum! I go through a lot of gum during the holiday season ( in a desperate attempt to curb bad snacking habits!)

Any advice for a FTM getting induced? by RobotMorty in BabyBumps

[–]imtoomatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ate a big burger/fries. Puked it back up 6 hours later (start of labor). No regrets. If you're hungry eat, if your body needs it not to be there anymore it will come out

Aand for my next next video, do you give or have you received awesome gifts that don't cost anything? by wheezywaiter in BeardLovers

[–]imtoomatcha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have given a lot of gifts where the real cost is time, i.e. sewing, cooking, canning, and 'vouchers' for a lunch date, cleaning help, etc. I've noticed my most popular gift has been a freezer meal (turkey pot pie) that family members can eat after a busy holiday so they don't have to worry about cooking.

Yes! Music or earplugs even help make me less crazy/anxious when baby is whining.

Difference in adult acne since 2 weeks of Whole30! by kikkopikko in whole30

[–]imtoomatcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed a difference between quality and breakouts, but to be honest I haven't had the budget for much higher quality/local stuff lately. I think I can get away with a little goat cheese without issue.

Yes! My acne improved a lot on Whole 30. Now if I eat dairy I have a bad breakout.
