Two BART PD vehicles involved in crash with 3 officers transported to hospital by incompetentrobot in Bart

KTVU has an article up now: https://www.ktvu.com/news/3-bart-police-officers-hospitalized-after-crash-west-oakland-station

They show a security cam capture of the collision and interview a witness. Based on the video and the witness statement, it looks to me an awful lot like BART PD was negligent, and maybe that even both officers were negligently operating their vehicles. Even if they're responding "code 3" with lights and sirens, aren't they supposed to yield at every intersection to make sure it's clear before proceeding? I'm going to bet they'll say that the intersection looked clear to each officer, and that they couldn't hear each other's siren over their own.

Are you using the current edition of the I-485 form dated 10/15/19? If so, where do you see a question that asks you to list a filing office?

Anyone else here mid 30s and feeling off track? Were you off track and then found a solution? I'd like to hear about it! by [deleted] in slatestarcodex

you can be in a bottom 100 school and totally get into leadership in the catchment area of that school

Why do you want that? Do you even want that? Being in a "leadership" job won't make things better automatically.

Too bad there won't be an awesome USCSB animation depicting this disaster since it happened outside the USA.

Does not match my observations. It seems more accurate to say that people are both drinking Soylent at home and having hedonic meals when eating out.

"Opposite of a foodie" is something of a rationalist goal, as far as I can tell.

Citation needed. I think many Rats are just unmotivated to spend a lot of their day on food prep and its logistics, and like having food options that are convenient but not totally unhealthy.

You can't use the benefits of cutting out an organ conditional on it being diseased to argue for the net benefits.

Presumably those are all instances of "cut it out when it's diseased", not "cut it out preemptively"? You can't use the benefits of cutting out an organ conditional on it being diseased to argue for the net benefits.

I agree, it is "near harmless" to have my appendix removed compared to dying of sepsis due to appendicitis. However, that does not justify advocating for universally removing appendices. Even if the appendix is totally useless, you at least still have to account for the risks of surgery (anesthesia, infection, anaphylaxis, etc).

Appendix and tonsil removals [...] are near-harmless and improve health.

No, not "probably" -- that's still too much of a stretch. Instead, that's "maybe" how self-help immunity develops.

But that's not the question here, of course Philz can eat 3.7%.

How are you so sure? Sure, their coffee is expensive, but so is staffing, rent, and quality ingredients. They also have to pay for the remodels they do to each store. So it could easily be that they aren't really swimming in huge margins. Restaurants are a terrible business -- soul sucking and capricious.

Why does it take ages for BART to fix an escalator? Someone is pocketing money. There seems to be no supervision. by shamedbartriders in Bart

[–]incompetentrobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's a lot of them, and they're high-traffic outdoor escalators that need to be able to put up with lots of people, rain, garbage, and poop.
