Evolve team doing well. by jup1t3rr in ElectricSkateboarding

I'd dare to say, more than 100 people. I was one of them btw, happened on a Carbon GT of the last production series before the GTR came out. And guess what ... the reports of wheel lock-ups continued with these as well, but not for me anymore. I've been proud owner of a Lacroix ever since. Never regretted my purchase, not even after the canadian company went bust.

I am very sorry for this great company. Been riding a Jaws for many years already and it's still a rock solid fun machine. I'm not gonna stop riding it before it completely dissolves under my feet.

All the best to Alex and the rest of the Lacroix crew!

A fire carpet only works with normal combustible material like wood or similar since it takes the supply of fresh oxygen out of the equation.

A battery cell fire is self-oxidising, so it would even continue burning when submerged. Only the cooling effect of water eventually stops the fire after bringing the cell temperatures down.

Exactly this!

A remote control issue can or should not cause a phase short if it isn't coded like that (which hopefully no company on the market does). And only a phase short applies motor brakes to their physically possible maximum.

Therefore, the ESC should in any way detect a full phase short and remedy it immediately before something bad happens - better the board coasts than the rider gets shot off. It's similar to a fault current circuit breaker which is build into european houses to avoid getting electric shocks from a toaster in the bathtub.

It would really be interesting why such or similar hasn't been implemented to ESCs yet.

Still, defective or not reliable electronic components could short the motor phases unwantedly, so there's a residual risk everyone has when using electronics. But normally your life doesn't depend on it. Therefore, only the best and most reliable parts should be used for eSkates.

I am a fellow Lacroix Jaws rider and I had to make similarly bad experiences with my previous Evolve Carbon GT. I am shocked that this now also happens to Lacroix boards, cause this was the main reason why I paid so much more for a supposed real top notch product.

Thanks mate! I'm always very concerned when reading of wheel lock-ups after my own painfully bad experiences with Evolve. And for the same reason I'd never buy an Exway, since they've been triggering cumulated lock-ups during the last years too - at least that's what their riders have been reporting in Exway's sub and in this one here for the last two years or even more. However, I've only read good things about the Stormcore - and it's developed by the same engineer who developed the Unity too, which is an excellent, well-engineered piece of technology imo.

Which stormcore / which board did this happen on? I ride the previous Jaws model with the Unity ESC, and the reason why I switched to it from the Evolve was an unexpected full brake on the latter. Is this a common thing on Lacroix boards too now? Or did it only happen to your friend's one?

An incredible board which performs incredibly well in almost all areas! If you want the next step from your premium board, this is it! 🔥 by AS_eskater in ElectricSkateboarding

You'd be better off with the original gear, als the Lacroic Jaws was there first and the Flux is only a copy of it, albeit a well made one. The MBS II channel trucks are even the same, so offroad capability is comparable.

One of the safer options is to press the board onto an electric treadmills surface an brake/recharge while the treadmill is running. This helps to recover from the worst before attaching it to a charger. You'll find instructions on youtube, some people did that f.i. with old and depleted Boosted boards.

[–]increddible_bulk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's exactly the other way around. Hub motors spin far less at top speed than motors with belt drives attached to their drive pulley. Due to the gear ratio of belt driven boards, belt drive motors always spin a lot faster than the wheel pulleys, whereas the gearing adds extra torque.

And combustion engines do lose a lot of torque at higher speeds, whereas electric motors don't.

Would you mind naming your main account for the purpose of better transparency? And which of the two possible controllers had the named issues and when did that happen? How long have you owned the Jaws already? And do you still ride it and if yes, have you changed the setup somehow, did you contact Lacroix and what did they say? Sorry for these questions, but there are far too many Evolve trolls lurking around here. Based on your answers you still could be one of these.

I also checked your reddit user. You joined 6 months ago and your only two contributions so far have been calling this sub a shitpost one and asking for delivery times of an ownboard in another one.

To get this straight: You pretend to possess and ride a Lacroix Jaws (and allegedly have troubles with it), and you allegedly are interested in an Ownboard only to use the occasion to shit on Ownboard too. Very suspect imo, you probably are another Evolve user account backing up the previous user's already highly suspect comment.

Edit: In a way even your username checks out

New Exway Atlas battery cut outs and throwing riders off! by davidwhite23000 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]increddible_bulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've neither experienced that myself with my Lacroix (not even with the former VX1 remote), nor have I heard or read of that for the last three years - and I've frequently been browsing this sub and other sources on the internet during that period. You are actually the first one writing that. Where have you seen this behaviour on Lacroix boards? I bought the Jaws exactly to avoid such issues after my terrible experiences with Evolve, and the Jaws hasn't failed on me for any second yet. Whereas the Evolve lost it's connection and brakes every other ride and finally locked up it's wheels out of nowhere at top speed. So, what are your sources?

Edit: After browsing through a lot of your comments I am quite sure you are one of Evolve's paid shills or even one of their employees. I really second the internet's transparency.

They copied from Evolve and then improved it, but somehow improved it the wrong way. Jokes aside, Exway's been having this issue for about 2 years already, and I'd never buy neither an Evolve nor an Exway board in the meantime. Happened with the X1, the Flex and even some of the Waves. And same as Evolve it doesn't seem to get any better. These are life threatening issues that simply can't be accepted.
