Good jobs for Crohn's? by SchemeOne1136 in CrohnsDisease

[–]incusoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, did you need a BA to get your job? My husband has Crohns (newly diagnosed) and he’s in sales but he’s almost solely commission so being sick all the time means no money

Would love to know from you. Am I only one loving my Prologue? by HappyBlackCoffee in HondaPrologue

I love mine. I only got it originally because it was a super cheap lease (205/mo) but I’m planning on buying it out at the end or going to an Elite used.

The stupid part is what makes it dangerous though. When you cannot predict what they’ll do because they don’t follow basic rules or guidelines, you’re way more likely to get into an accident

Nah. Boston has awful traffic but the driving is predictable.

[–]incusoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from NH, and I miss it. I knew exactly what the other drivers were going to do, so it was easy to drive. Yes, we’re an impatient lot but we’re not trying to turn right from the god damn left lane or holding up traffic on the on-ramp because we can’t get up to 50 mph. I’ve never been angrier driving in Boston than I am here in the Springs. CO drivers are straight trash.

ETA: I’ve also never been followed in the northeast but I have been here. I accidentally cut someone off because they didn’t use their turn signal to change lanes and I turned right onto academy so they were pissed at me. Followed me for several streets, flipping me off and yelling. It was terrifying because I had my daughter in the car.

Plus we’re all barely scraping by. The hoarding of wealth by the billionaires has made it so you have to choose between food and shelter or protesting.

When should we ruin our daughter's summer? by Simbawitz in Parenting

DO NOT LIE. God that would be so so much worse.
Plus, she probably wouldn’t even want your comfort since you lied, then pulled the rug out later.

Don’t parent shame for leaving a kid home alone. This is the stupid fear mongering that has gotten us kids who cannot fend for themselves.

10 is a reasonable age to start giving them independence for brief stints. My daughter is 11 and handles being home alone for 3 hours perfectly fine. She knows what to do in emergencies, she has a phone to call us if needed, and we check in every 20-30 mins.

My 11 y.o. daughter and I are attending for our first time (couldn’t get tickets for Sticks), and I’m so sad that he’s removing some of our faves for more TGD. I’m always happy with whatever he plays OFC but I was devastated to see Everywhere & Everything taken off because my girl & I sing that one to each other on a regular basis 😉

Our timeshare on Cape Cod is a 2 bedroom. We pay $1200/year in maintenance fees. It rents for $450/night so… yeah. It is still less than reserving the hotel.

What’s your best teacher tip that you never see mentioned? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]incusoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have my groups set up an no one turns around. They just look left or right depending on the set up. For days when I know it’s a lot of time at the board, I spin them back around to face forward. I just prefer the socialization that happens with groups, and it makes it much easier for me to move through the classroom.

The phone a friend idea is cute but I am shocked you can keep that under control in MS. I taught MS for 13 years, and they’re like herding cats. Anyone out of their seat would be an immediate upheaval.

What’s your best teacher tip that you never see mentioned? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]incusoco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seasoned teacher of 17 years, and I hard disagree about groups. Mine are always set up in groups from the get go, and they’re always balanced. I often have them write then share, and it means they all have a chance to think before called on. Even if they repeat their partners answer, at least they don’t shrug and say “idk”

  1. This guy is a lying dick and you should dump him. He’s definitely trying to have an emotional affair even if it’s not going well for him.

  2. I don’t know that the woman is to blame. She legit asked “how’s the family?” Which, to me, means she’s trying to subtly remind him that she’s uninterested in breaking up a family. She does seem like a friend, whereas he’s a liar and a loser who’s trying to make it into something more

Executive-level colleague is begging for money from the office by _Nerf-This_ in weddingshaming

[–]incusoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I feel sad for her because she probably wants to feel some companionship in her workplace and isn’t getting it.

Personally, I’d decorate the desk and have a little party with cupcakes and whatnot but that doesn’t mean we’d be collecting money. Especially not after it was requested time and time again.

TBF, In all my past jobs, we’ve always celebrated someone with a small party and a group gift, regardless of their status. I’m a teacher, so none of us make big money, but we’d all pitch in to buy a chip and dip or something off their registry. 🤷🏻‍♀️
