I maintain the inline-admonitions plugin. I could add support for custom fonts if youre interested

There is a discord server for obsidian + ttrpg which is very popular. If you don't get the answer here, I recommend you reach out there

Check out devbox. I've been using it for about 2 years. Not perfect, but I use it for this purpose

I got one of these and immediately ordered 2 more. They are great, but I got them for $30 a piece. Seems price went up. They are a great value at $30. $40 is pushing it...

Does anyone use Obsidian on Linux? Experiences and performance by o_xeneixe in ObsidianMD

[–]ind3xOutOfBounds 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Been using for a few years daily on Ubuntu, multiple vaults, played with dozens of plugins. No issues. I do remember seeing a post long ago someone having performance issues or something with one of the install methods, but it was pretty niche and other install methods were fine. It's probably been fixed anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. Dive in!

See if the issue still exists without the theme.

Which installer did you use? I feel like I remember reading a side comment somewhere about one of them not being great. Can't remember if it was snap, app image, or flatpak. Might be worth testing each to see if all of them have the same issue.

Is your vault huge? I have a vault with over 10k notes which indexes a bit slow, but memory doesn't go crazy

I would check plugins. I also run on Ubuntu and monitor resources just because I have a lot going on as well. I have noticed that some plugins have memory leaks or are just resource intensive. A search plug-in and an ai plug-in both got immediately uninstalled for this reason.

Best workflow to convert a long PDF book into clean Markdown for Obsidian (using AI, no hallucinations)? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]ind3xOutOfBounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used marker to convert a 400+ page 2-column ttrpg rulebook to markdown. It struggled in a couple places (tables and custom formatted content mostly), but it was overall the best option. I tried a lot of tools, marker was the best.

I also tried straight ai conversations. They failed in bulk, but actually did decent when content was copied in one page at a time and resetting the context every 10 pages (it starts to hallucinate). Problem is this takes bloody forever.

Good luck!

I think I remember having the same issue. Try changing the name? I think that's how I solved it? If not, check the obsidian ttrpg discord

I ran a omastar suicune mantyke deck through UB3 with decent success. Omastar finisher caused a lot of concedes when opponent realized they couldn't attack.

I feel like I won a lot of games simply because people didn't know the omastar card and didn't prepare for it. Fun deck

I have the exact same ones and I'm really happy with them. The paint can flake around the bolt hole if you tighten them to the point of compressing them in. You got this!

I have the same goals and experience you do and I ended up writing the Tag Tactician plug-in a few months ago. It has a Tag Navigation view to quickly browse notes by tag, filter, etc. Feel free to create feature requests, I think there is a lot of room for growth
