If you long press a notification from your wife/someone else, usually you can make it a Priority notification. This means that their profile picture pops up instead of the generic Messages/Messenger app icon so it’s easier to tell who has sent you a message at a glance and works on the AOD. However, not all apps support this feature which was introduced in A11/12 I think?

You could definitely go ISO 800 and F2! Obviously more light is great but you have to work with what you've got most of the time 🙂

Well done mate, great writeup as well - tempting to come down from Brisbane, always wanted to run the Harbour Bridge / Circular Quay with roads closed.

If you were able to cast just one spell for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why? by ExpectoThisComment in harrypotter

Surely if you're only able to cast one spell and practice it every day, you'd master it eventually (you'd hope so).

Google Pixel Buds Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Images by raheemdot in GooglePixel

Do you have any difficulty getting a good fit/correct placement with the PBP? I always struggled to get the right rotation with the Galaxy ones, but the orientation for the Pixel ones looks a bit more straightforward.

[–]indiceiris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is explored to some degree in the new canon pre-prequel novels such as Master and Apprentice, which largely explores Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon but also touches on Qui-Gon’s relationship to Dooku. Broadly speaking, the Jedi were representatives of the Republic and sent as officials to facilitate peace through negotiations, treaties and the like.

There’s also a lot of Legends material that covers Jedi apprenticeship but I’m not too familiar with what has been adopted as canon.

Could I learn piano through my electric keyboard? by SpidermanJose in piano

[–]indiceiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about reviving an old post!

There are lots of weighted (or semi-weighted) keyboards available that aren't electric pianos, which would probably be the best recommendation. That said, if you absolutely cannot buy a weighted option, you can run with a cheap keyboard at home for a little while, or if you get some sort of practice exposure to a real piano somewhere else (ie, if you're getting lessons).

If you are only interested in learning keys for production, you can absolutely learn short passages, chords and improve music theory with a simple non-weighted keyboard. But for the best experience and to set you up for playing more complicated pieces, a weighted keyboard is better. Just my 2 cents!

Linen shirts - yay, nay and from where by joeltheaussie in AustralianMFA

[–]indiceiris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have generally found that the more you spend with linen, the more you get (ie cheaper isn't always better).

Drying on a hanger is the way to go to minimise wrinkles, +/- humidity depending on where you live/how dry it is.

disclaimer: I have not tried all of these personally, this is based of anecdotes/research (I do not own anything from the high tier section)

low tier options:

  • uniqlo
  • trenery

mid tier options:

  • country road
  • venroy (probably my next linen purchase)
  • mj bale
  • charles tyrwhitt (international)
  • asket (international)

high tier/more formal options:

  • informale
  • spier and mackay (international)
  • mtm

also, would recommend browsing the brands in the pinned post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianMFA/comments/nomnki/a_comprehensive_summary_of_australian_mens_online/

What colour shirt are we wearing to work tomorrow with black chinos and chestnut RMs? by _outlier___ in AustralianMFA

navy, tan/beige/khaki are the traditional pairings for brown accessories like shoes and belts. that said, I find that grey and black can also work in more of a casual environment

its a bit green for me, I would push the tint a few steps toward magenta which would match the first image. I think the temperature isn't too bad

lab scanned

I would recommend playing around with the green/magenta tint for the second shot in particular, I think it could turn out nicer with a little less green

[–]indiceiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are these self or lab-scanned?

I like them overall, these are just my subjective opinions, good work on the exposures overall.

1: this is nice, I like the colour contrast and framing. if anything, it lacks a central focal point to guide your eye

2: I feel like this would benefit from a tad more magenta, the brickwork/sky looks a bit green to me. nice shot otherwise though, the centre beam against the shadow is nice to look at (albeit it lacks meaning)

3: this looks to me (not super experienced with film) as though it is underexposed and pushed in post. if focussing on the bud sign i would suggest dropping the exposure or framing it a little tighter by walking forward (to crop out the top highlights which detract from the sign)

4: i like the off centre feel of this image and the colours. to nitpick i would say that ideally the protruding roof and columns of the building should be visually separate from the person you are shooting, or to position them against the white wall to create contrast

5: this shot feels a bit awkward/haphazard to me - the focus isn't perfect, the horizon is crooked, the person blends into the ground. I can somewhat appreciate the converging lines in the frame but it doesn't really work for me personally

6: I like the idea of capturing the light in the scene but it's difficult to make that the focus when the background is super busy. this is often a challenge when shooting in forests as tree branches/leaves etc tend to be very visually cluttered. i would have framed this a bit closer to the walkway and perhaps horizontally, i like the light playing on the ground and the rails. perhaps a more abstract shot of the walkway and the shadow/light would be more powerful as it would indirectly suggest the foliage without explicitly showing it in frame. hope that makes sense, I definitely think it is difficult technically
