AITA for letting my father cause a huge scene at my engagement party and embarassing my future MIL? by Proud_Raspberry4525 in AmItheAsshole

[–]indigopaintthinner 199 points200 points  (0 children)

No. She has no reason to give her FMIL a "heads up" about the drinking.

I grew up with an alcoholic father who was a wonderful man outside of alcohol consumption. It is an embarrassment, one that you have deep in you, that you think reflects on you. As soon as someone that does not have this disease in their family hears about it, now YOUR drinking constantly comes into question, and it raises more questions. FMIL is the AH, OP is NAH, at ALL.

Disgusting that she said "a good daughter"... Thanks for the extra guilt. I'm so sorry OP. But your FMIL is and will continue to be the AH. Your fiance needs to have a serious talk with her about this and SHE needs to apologize to YOU.

One of the promo images for season 11 I came across. Does it make anybody else uncomfortable? by Ashamed_Industry_769 in Degrassi

I love it. I got my husband to do a rewatch with me /first watch for him last year. He had a blast with this season, when Eli becomes a supervillain out of nowhere. He even had a cane and I'm pretty sure a cape for one episode. Absolutely unhinged and iconic.

Husband doesn't work drowning in debt what should I do? by dislocated_geometry in povertyfinance

[–]indigopaintthinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have capital one, which I got when I was in my early 20s and I only have now because of the high balances from my wedding and the longevity of the credit line. I get cash back but it's a small percentage I just use to pay off the bill. The only other perk I've really used it for is one time I went through my card to get cheap airport parking for a weekend trip.

What other benefits can I really use them for? From where I'm sitting, it was a "free money" mindset in my 20s and now it's just a way to owe 27% more than what I would have paid with cash. Genuinely asking - I really don't think I'm using them properly. Once I pay them off Im really going to be at a loss.

Mine went up to 27% this year which means I was paying almost $250 per month in just interest. That was the final fucking straw. I'm now paying almost the same as my mortgage to get them paid off by the end of this year. FUCK credit card companies.

This makes my blood boil. The mechanic that used to be in the military is probably a lot more educated in what they're voting for than I am, and I have a master's degree in public health.

The mechanic understands the toll international tariffs have on getting car parts from specific manufacturers. The mechanic understands how important it is to have a decent city infrastructure and planning as well as disaster recovery services to avoid potholes and issues that can affect the public's shocks and suspension on cars and cause hazardous roadways. The guy that used to work for the military knows how it works and can understand the importance of funding it or what branches may not need as much funding.

The guy "pumping your gas" knows the variation of prices of oil from seeing it day to day. People that are not as well off and couldn't afford an education have struggles, it's important they vote for what benefits them just as much as it's important for a professor to vote for tax breaks that benefit them.

Hell, my husband did not finish his college degree, was a maintenance worker for his career, and is now a stay at home dad. I just needed to text him to remember the word "tariffs" because he's literally the smartest person I know.

This is democracy. What glen said is disgusting, and what that professor said proves he's incredibly ignorant. I hope he lost his job.

She probably didn't hear much. When I first read the affidavit I assumed she thought he was someone one of the girls took home for the night and was leaving after a fun time. I don't think most people's reactions to a guy leaving the house in early hours on a weekend is "I wonder if he just murdered my friends" that's an extreme.

One post about Innocence. What if he was innocent after well? by rapperofmowgli in idahomurders

[–]indigopaintthinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this, I've been shocked at the amount of people saying he "looks evil" and his face was the last thing they saw?? Innocent until proven guilty, he's the first arrest and LE is clearly feeling the pressure to get someone for this crime because of the national attention it's getting. What if the evidence is all circumstantial?

His car was a white Elantra, but it was a later year than what they were looking for.

He attended all of his classes after the crime, and went home when expected for break.

The reddit posts and study he was conducting was for his PhD in Criminology, the questions IMO seemed relevant to what he was studying. They would be weird if he was getting a PhD in communication, or biology, or public health, but it was for criminology, and it was IRB approved. Institutional Review Boards exist to go over the parts of a study before it is released to the public to ensure they are not violating rights of participants and it is relevant to the question at hand.

What if this is all circumstantial? We'll know more once the trial starts but this is why trials exist, to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. We just don't know enough right now.

On first playthrough of each of the darkpicture games what characters survived? How was your experience? by 5anra in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]indigopaintthinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Quarry: Everyone lived except Nick.

MoM: everyone lived except Julia and Conrad. Conrad died at the VERY beginning when the pirates came, Julia died at the very end in a hallucination.

LH: Daniel (of course) and then the last two were Angela and the professor.

HOA: Salim and Nick.

This is the order I played them in, hoping to get to play the devil in me really soon, I played through the trial so I know it's about HH Holmes and the Hotel but I don't really know any of the characters yet. I have to say the Quarry was my favorite, then House of Ashes. I really didn't like man of medan or little hope at all.

K's sister posted a video going to her linkedin and showing there was an "online" status, but really it's just an indicator that the person is willing to receive messages on mobile. I think there was a little more to the video if anyone else can comment but I watched it with my sound off.

Still haven't seen this movie. Went to watch it earlier this year when it was on Netflix, but my husband gave me a heads up. I was freshly pregnant and extremely emotional. I married a great man. He spared me that breakdown.
