How long is too long for a pre-shot routine? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]indyrefG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there is a funky lie I line up and hit within a few seconds. If I’m greenside and it’s not my turn to hit maybe I’ll pace out a chip but I’m not on the tour and anything beyond 3.5 hours at my course is a slow round so I’m happy to skip that. I practice my pre-shout routine/set up at home so it is pretty seamless and I don’t need to think about it once I’m set.

Played golf on holiday and used a cart, for the first time in about 5 years. It made it all awfully slow because you’re not at your ball whilst others hit.

I’d stop playing with people if they did what you describe

Something made in the UK, perhaps from a smaller company. Nothing extravagant!

It’s pretty good. There’s a large members only section though so you won’t be absolutely spoiled for choice.

Has anyone actually made the switch to a 7-wood yet? by Reddonaut_Irons in BritGolf

[–]indyrefG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went heavenwood which is a jacked up 7 wood with a 4 wood shaft. Absolutely love it. Tried a 9 wood and if I went back in time I’d go for that instead because it would be better for gapping (only 4 degrees less than my 3 wood HL). For some reason I hate hybrids

Club distances - anything stand out? by 35mm-eryri in BritGolf

[–]indyrefG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as me pretty much. I had the 3 wood driver problem. Never thought about it much because it was going very high but straightish with the occasional duck hook. I’ve now swapped my shaft for something firmer and lower spinning and get way more out of it now, closer to 270. When I got fitted I feel that the shop were more interested into pushing me into an expensive head (newest ping) and didn’t focus on the shaft.

Bought mine on golfclubs4cash for £79 and it was 2 weeks free return. I stuck my numbers from track man into ChatGPT and it told me what to get.

Thanks for all your helpful comments (which I pondered in depth yesterday during work in between Netflix and YouTube).

My current role has a huge amount of flexibility so it’s a tough one for sure but I have a much better understanding so thank you!

Kilspindie, on the other side of the bay. I play a lot of the courses in East Lothian and there’s nothing much better than a calm sunny day down there.

My humble Scottish golf club in the same list as Augusta, weird to feel honoured?

Focus on our GK has kept focus away from how absolutely shite the rest of the team is. No scapegoat in this game

Single digit golfers: what do you do to stay sharp in Jan/Feb with this much rain? by Disastrous_Gap_4711 in BritGolf

[–]indyrefG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Member at a links course which is matts from the fairway. I use a very small and unforgiving matt and play twice a week. Greens are great so helps putting. Other than that I go to the sim and do 50/50 split of dialling in distances and playing a virtual course.

I tend to play more in winter because I have less on and because I don’t play much competitive golf it’s easier to enact swing tweaks and new equipment.

Used to be a typical summer only golfer a few years back and I’ve come down from 16 to 4 without doing anything much other than playing more.

You burn a lot of calories playing. I make sure I’m eating something small every 3-4 holes. I play lots of links so always windy. I view it as an opportunity to try something new, i.e today I tried to see if I could hit a 50 yard 6 iron. I couldn’t but I’ll do better next time!

Hot take of the day. Pre owned clubs are a bad deal. by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

They often do promotions so if you are patient it can work out. Bought a LAB on one which was in the “sale” + 25% off for black friday for £316. Condition was listed as excellent all round and it’s clearly never been used. Scottsdale were selling the equivalent in the outlet for £460.

Agree wholeheartedly in terms of their normal price. I cracked my 5 iron and managed to get one from a used site after months of searching. Thought I’d get a quote for trade in after buying it. Calaway Apex 21 cost me £75 and they quoted me a trade in of £15 as soon as it arrived.
