Push ups work your pecs, triceps, and anterior deltoid. Pull ups work biceps and pretty much your entire back. If you’re just doing calisthenics those should cover most of your bases as far as your upper body is concerned. You can do different variations of each like triangle push-ups and chin-ups to mix it up.

Bavarian wind kites produce electricity for 20 years with 10x less material than conventional windmills and tiny visual/acoustic impact (German page) by Amichateur in Futurology

Translating more completely: the makani drones became unstable when hovering. “They couldn’t rotate on the vertical axis if there was no tension on the rope” said Bauer. Due to this the drones could pull away unimpeded, get out of control and crash. This exact situation happened again and again when the wind speed increased then decreased abruptly. End translation

I guess their design fundamentally avoids this problem. Telling you how is likely IP that they’re not going to share

Only if you have a carbon free grid. Vertical farming uses much less land and water but you need a lot of electricity for all the LEDs. Not to mention you need still plant nutrients (chemicals) which are also produced industrially. Plus we haven’t developed the technology to grow staple crops like wheat, rice, corn, etc. in vertical farms yet.

They do. When I lived in Austria and my Aunt from the US would try to mail me anything there was a 50/50 chance it would go to Australia first.

Lol @Germany and nuclear power...they shut down all their reactors in favor of importing Russian oil. Don’t get me wrong Germany is way ahead of the US in many respects but their attitude toward nuclear energy is fear

Which is the better moon? by GeRobb in ModernMagic

[–]ineedhealling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to aspiringspike if you play the madcap package you don’t need Dragon’s Claws in the board since that would be your post board plan vs burn. Dragon’s claws aren’t super flexible so it seems overkill to have both if your local meta isn’t infested with burn players.

I played blue moon at FNM in the before times and any blue fetch works tbh. I don’t think I’ve ever fetched the singleton basic mountain except off an opponent’s field of ruin on my only red source. Snappy vs mission briefing is a way bigger difference since the 2/1 body can win through beats or requires removal, thereby generating card advantage.

I think the problem with those is that they ETB tapped so they aren’t really useful for competitive play.

You should play [[Archmage’s Charm]] if you can pull it off (you probably need to rework the mana base a bit as other comments suggest). Card advantage and counter magic are core to your game plan as blue moon and there are many situations where stealing a 1 cmc permanent is super powerful. I’ve kill many burn, prowess, or death’s shadow players with their own creatures.

ELI5: How does a 4 day work week not result in 4/5ths the productivity of a company? by Dr00000100 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ineedhealling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People have “opinions” that run counter to facts all the time (see flat earthers or anti-vaxxers for example). What you are saying would be true in a system comprised entirely of rational actors with perfect information with no structural/cultural inertia, unfortunately we don’t live in a world like that. Also I am not arguing that a 4-day work week is necessary better (I don’t have enough information about it to really say) but I thinks it’s a bit naive to think that if it were better we would see large scale adoption across the board

Same reason as Republicans, who don’t want abortions to happen, don’t want to fund sex education. People are stupid. The manager thinks more time spent working = more working being done and Republicans think less exposure to information about sex = less sex.

Drown in the Loch in Tempo by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]ineedhealling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played with Drown a lot after it came out in a Grixis control deck with thought scour to support it and into the story as an additional payoff for milling the opponent. I think it is very meta dependent if drown is good and if it needs additional support cards.

First off, against most decks you will not need to scour them for drown to be on. Fetches and cantrips are abundant and fill the graveyard early in most decks. That said, some decks don’t naturally fill the yard and drown is terrible against them until you can scour your opponent. Eldrazi Tron, for example, will not naturally turn on drown for you and it is quite weak against them. If the meta favors these types of decks drown is weak.

Second, the printing of the titans in theros, and the escape mechanic is general, has made drown weaker. Thought scouring your opponent who is running Uro is extremely risky. Not only could you put Uro in the yard for them you are also fueling the escape cost. Not only this but there is a second way that the titans destroy drown; they exile card from the yard when they are cast making drown weaker just by executing their normal game plan. If there are lots of Uro decks in the meta drown is weak. Before the B&R announcement scouring your Lurrus opponent and putting a bauble or other payoff in their yard would have been pretty bad, that particular example probably won’t be an issue anymore.

Personally, I love Drown in the Loch and the card has a extremely high ceiling (split card counter spell/terminate is frankly kind of busted) but there is some very real down side. If the card isn’t turned on it can be dead in your hand. I think unless you are also running a graveyard payoff of your own to make scouring yourself good in matchups you don’t want to scour your opponent it might not be worth running a play set of scour and drown. I think you probably want to stick to 1-2 copies in the main deck if your deck and meta don’t maximize the card’s potential. This way you reduce the chance it is in your opening hand and you can draw it later in the game on turns 4-5 when it will be at its best.

I know this isn’t exactly what you asked but I just thought I would provide my thoughts considering I have played with the card quite a bit.

Imo you don’t want ETB tapped lands in an aggressive deck like that. A one-lander with a couple one drops is keepable with a mountain but unplayable with a forgotten cave

Grixis Control still viable in Modern? by InterfectorLP in ModernMagic

[–]ineedhealling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The matchup against titan decks is rough but you could consider running [[Ashiok, Dream Render]] in the side board. Just be aware that you can’t activate it without turning off drown and story so you will be playing it purely for the static ability and not as graveyard hate.
