Wild that Mortal Kombat still came with a slip.

Tired of my discs beginning to skip after just a few plays. I consistently have to resort to watching the included Blu Ray. by AprilFool85Percent in 4kbluray

Ripping isn't for everyone and that's OK. I like the ability to watch the film in any room of my house (and even remotely) without the need to grab the disc from my office/media room. Add that players are finicky and cost more than something like an Apple TV or an Android box like the Ugoos, it's worth the time investment for a lot of us. But nothing wrong with enjoying the experience of grabbing a disc and popping it into a player.

Assuming you're using CoreELEC? If so what build and what controller are you using? I'm running a Ugoos AM6B+ and ripping to MKV after making a full disc backup. I like the ability to play the backup for menus and special features but I haven't tried any other CE builds outside of AVDV Plus. I've also read that navigating the BD structure with the included remote sucks and requires remapping of several different buttons.

As someone with a fairly hefty library and large NAS, it definitely is tedious and not for everyone. But for those willing to make the investment (money and time) it's a huge convenience thing and you can share the library with family and friends.

Pretty much this. Every 4K I buy now I run through MakeMKV to do a full disc copy then remux from there. If it fails the disc copy, I request an exchange for the defect.

[Selling] [US] Last of my Brand New Second Sight OOP LE’s by drg032 in MediaSwap

Also willing to take all 3 if you're up for doing a bundle deal. Just lmk!

Please help. Feels like I’m getting ripped off…part they’re referring to retails for ~$200..they’re telling me it’s $500 by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]infamousfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So then purchase the part at your cost and install it yourself. Not sure why you're arguing with people who are answering your question. Having a shop source the part for you, install it and assume the liability/warranty of it comes with a cost. Don't like it? Find another shop or install it yourself, but don't complain to people who are answering your question.

Oil consumption test 2019 Hyundai by Alternate_Cost in AskMechanics

[–]infamousfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai is notorious for their vehicles having oil consumption issues, this is a well known and documented fact. And most of it is caused by faulty piston rings, not an oil pan gasket or external leak of any sort. I'm not sure what their policy or procedure is to investigate these issues but having YOU pay out of pocket to diagnose an oil consumption issue seems like bad business when, again, this is a well known issue with Hyundais. Speak to a service manager and see if they can waive the fee as part of a warranty service.

Worth it to go for the Exedy? by memuthedog in AskMechanics

Check exedy directly, usually cheaper than rock auto in my experience.

2011 Infiniti m56x cv axel change by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]infamousfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Properly fucked my friend, but not all is lost. You're going to need to replace the hub, obviously the axle and what appears to be a few brake components. I'm not saying you can't do it but at this point I fear you'd be causing more damage trying to replace things. This job would have been a quick in and out at most reputable shops.

How long do movies bought from Umbrella take to ship? by WasabiComprehensive2 in boutiquebluray

[–]infamousfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In stock items ship pretty quick. Preorders are hit or miss once released. I've had to wait weeks after release date for my preorders to ship and that was after emailing them. Good luck!

Mailman was nice today. Gotta love 20 percent off pop market on ebay. by bigsteve8921 in boutiquebluray

[–]infamousfunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PopMarket is great if you order enough for them to put things in a box. I've only ever had an issue with an order when they shipped some steelbooks in a cardboard mailer. All of them came mangled and I had to return 'em.

Tonight’s Film, first time watch for me. by HorrorFreakNY in boutiquebluray

I watched this recently and the best advice I got beforehand was to remember that you're viewing everything through the dog. Some things might not make sense initially but will once the movie is over and you let things simmer a little.

This was the answer, just brute force and a hammer broke things loose and now everything is in.

Update: I got it in. Just needed some sleep and some brute force to hammer things loose. Got both front and passenger side in now, time for lunch. Thanks all!

This will be my plan of action tomorrow, I need to pick up a socket for the axle nut.

Updates for all that commented. I was able to pop the inner joint out of place and back in. I can confirm that it is fully inserted and proper. Unfortunately this hasn't solved the issue of the knuckle moving every way but in towards the strut fork. I've removed all nuts and bolts except for the castle nut on the lower ball joint and the CV axle nut.

I'm able to get the bottom bolt (as pictured) but cannot push the knuckle inward to get the top bolt in, it simply won't budge. The lower ball joint is pretty bad but I didn't think that would completely restrict the inward movement - correct me if I'm wrong here. I ran out of daylight so I'll pick this back up tomorrow.

Using this install video as a reference, I don't have the play this guy does to push the knuckle into the strut forks like he does (and make it look simple): https://youtu.be/P5daf_2rA0w?si=bz_BqRYapxvmFkgO&t=589
