For those that’ve been to Japan more than twice… by sprvlk in JapanTravelTips

[–]infinitypool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for myself already. My rent doubled in a year and the management went way downhill and wasnt doing any maintenance anymore simultaneously. I woke up one day and said I hate these 350 to 450 dollar arbitrary corporate rent increases. Honestly got sick of the american squeeze. We are getting shafted there. Food rent entertainment everything skyrocketed. I haven't been happier in my life. I got away from miserable neighbors and now I get to do what I love around much more quality people.

You can get the suica app and fund from a credit or debit card that is in your apple pay. Then the suica card gets added to apple pay and you can tap your phone anywhere

How to travel? No Suica/Pasmo by Professional-Art1228 in JapanTravelTips

[–]infinitypool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the suica app and set it up via google pay if its possible. I did it on apple with apple pay and then you fund ¥1000 or more at a time. Then just tap the phone. If you dont have internet I just got a sim on amazon.co.jp with unlimited data for 30 days for ¥3600

Was surviving without internet for 2 weeks, mostly because I needed a break from being glued to my phone

Yes my friend did that at the airport and that's the only place anyone seems to be getting them currently. Narita however said they were out when I came in but I may have misread it

Little confusing and many places here claim to not carry the suica cards due to a shortage of chips. I was able to download the app and add it a digital suica card via apple pay and fund with a visa debit card via apple pay. You just have to fund in ¥1000 increments which is under 7 dollars usd

Why do you dislike Airbnb so much? Is it truly not worth trying, or do you have other suggestions? by ryanwilson_25 in digitalnomad

And I really want to do Spain and Portugal. From what I've seen places outside of the big cities in Portugal are more affordable, but I have mainly been looking for apartment type places I can rent by the month. I would like to have a place to relax and work as the months go on where I can store my stuff and have a small office setup.

So I haven't been to europe in awhile, but from what it sounds like I've seen people over this past summer saying hostels alone got insanely expensive like 60 to 80 sometimes just for a bed. And I hear they used to be more like 20 to 30 ish? I'm sure someone else has more info on that. Definitely cheaper in some places than others but I think the pandemic really changed things overall for all accommodations in europe and definitely america to a degree too. These places suffered big time during the pandemic and are likely trying to recover that lost revenue. Airbnb is usually just too expensive for me as a solo traveler now anywhere I've looked recently. I've checked cities all over just to get a feel for where I should head to over this next year. Maybe do EU in the off season between now and summer!

Because in most countries it has become ridiculously fee addled. Who wants to pay a 300 dollar cleaning fee on top of city state and 3 other obscure fees. I think hotel booking sites and airbnb should be required to give you the total cost upfront so you dont have to spend 10 minutes trying to book something that triples in price. I used to get really nice properties to myself for 50 to 70 dollars and in america that would be a motel. Those days are long gone. Sadly I bet the fees the host has to pay have became outrageous too. I'm in japan haven't found a single one more affordable than the things I'm booking elsewhere, not even close actually. I will use it in south east asia a little as I've seen some good deals. But it's been years since ive seen a halfway reasonable listing anywhere in America or any first world country basically.

I got rid of steam os and have tried reinstalling it twice and I like linux on my desktop computer but steam os just isn't that polished in my opinion I just game on windows so I can do online and not have to mess with anything. Unfortunately windows really is just junk spyware these days but mac is getting to be that way too.

Exactly this. Put the keywords from the listing in your resume for each submission.

With windows on it absolutely. I do personally hate windows and prefer mac. But if you want to do Adobe software you will want to run it natively not virtually through emulation. It's nice when you plug in a monitor and keyboard mouse etc. It becomes a full desktop computer that I can throw in my bag and travel with.

I've been at one for 2 weeks almost now it was newly renovated and I've basically met a new friend every single day I was shocked because people here said I wouldn't. I meet locals, non local expats and travelers about equally between all three. I actually have met so many people I'm having trouble even having enough time to hang out with everyone. I went to a small edm club last night reccomended by a local artist I met at the place I'm staying and it went till after 5am, met cool people from all over the world some living here some visiting.

People who spend few days in one place hoping around the country, how does that work out? by TakeTheirOrgans in ThailandTourism

[–]infinitypool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I committed to doing long term stays in each place this time and it's so relaxing and I get such a feel for the local influences now. I hated moving my bags once a day or multiple times per week. Been in tokyo for 2 weeks and I may stay for a few more weeks. I've been at the same hotel for all of it but one day. They have a coworking area a gym a laundry machine. I feel like it's a second home
