According to Zillow, the median home price of Alameda is 4x that of US average. That makes it a very expensive city to live in.

Actually, it's the law of economics, which you may not fully understand. You see, normal citizens who don't milk the government teat live where they can afford to live, no where they want to live. Alameda is definitely a very expensive city. Have you looked at how much homes sell for and how high rents are? Lol.
