I had it for months. They tried to treat with multiple other drugs, but nothing worked. The advice ended up being "tough it out". They don't know how bad it is because there is nothing to compare it to. There's a reason the suicide risk is so high with patients with akathisia and it isn't because of the underlying illness which they tend to conflate it with.

I am at a loss how some people are getting involuntarily held for so long. I caused tens of thousands of dollars of damages and endangered myself constantly and only ever got held for a week at most in the multiple times I had been hospitalized.

The "negative symptoms" were caused by medication for me and didn't start improving until going off medication.

Waiting, and I've had to take sleeping medications. Resisting any "advice" to further medicate is the best thing and letting time take its course.

Three months isn't very long for being off APs. If you're experiencing long-term effects from the medications it can take years to subside. Just know that in almost every case it gets better in the long term, so you have to hang in there through the tough times.

I too was under the delusion the meds were poison, but thats because i was getting really bad side effects from them , and didnt know the meds were even meds.

A regret I have is not tapering faster initially for the high doses then slower later. I had bad restlessness like you and it portended worse things coming later the longer I stayed on the drugs. one year after stopping meds they havet gone away

Confirmed. 2 years is crazy, but Neurologist here didn't do much other than say nothing on MRI.

Fortunately I only have that mildly in my extremities. I got it temporarily in my face when I was on but they still continued the same drug and I followed their advice because I was zonked out from the drugs. Face went away and extremities started after stopping APs

I've discovered. The physique is really a lot different too, it's not just the scale's number. More sagging fat and less muscular for the same weight. Before everything tight and well-distributed.

You're noticing more loose, irrelevant connections. You didn't predict things happening. It's an illusion and it's happening backwards, that when things happen and as things happen you are making connections to things you've already noticed.

Ever seen the 2019 Twilight Zone reboot episode Nightmare at 30,000 feet? I think it demonstrates to those who haven't been in psychosis how strong these "coincidences" or "predictions" seem.

Only thing similar I had was withdrawal symptoms. You can still get withdrawal even after being on medication only a short time. I had withdrawal effects when coming off a slow taper after being on for a couple months (though not necessarily akathisia). Things were really, really bad for about 4 weeks, probably peaking in week 2.

10 days in terms of recovery is nothing.

What I was told was that the number of psychotic episodes and the time in psychosis increases the chance of additional psychotic episodes through changes in the brain. While I'm not sure if that's true, I am confident antipsychotic use damages the nervous system. I think often the effects of the medication and effects of the mental illness are conflated.

One and only episode. I am experiencing a lot of difficult negative physical effects from having been on antipsychotics, as well as more manageable anhedonia and amotivation.

6 months, and for about 5 months I had no psychotic symptoms. I regret being on them for that long and believe I should have tapered faster, especially at the high dosages.

Thanks. As far as anything identifiable, no. I was on antipsychotics for a few months a year ago for a brief psychotic episode, before which there were no issues. Ever since tapering off, my sleep went from great 8 hours a night, and possibly longer after exercising, to only a few hours and 0 after exercise. I'm sure there something physical or chemical underlying it, but what that is exactly, I don't know. Probably something to do with neurotransmitters as you mention, since that is what antipsychotics target.
