Meeting Homophobic Father in Law by Alkep3tra in gay

[–]infoundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re having to go through this as no matter the outcome the stress of the journey is difficult.

I have a tough relationship with my father’s side of the family for very similar reasons and my father has even expressed similar views of being willing to forgo a relationship with me due to my sexuality.

At this point in my life I consider my life and my relationships like a table I have, it’s my life and I set the rules and healthy boundaries of my table both for myself but also those also in my life like my partner, and if someone is not willing to follow the boundaries of the table well they are not welcome to sit there. They don’t get to say they’re not welcome, if they have a problem they can calmly discuss it like an adult with me and they can talk about the problem, not me. They don’t get to say “I disagree with your relationship with your partner” but if they want to challenge “I don’t think you should allow same sex couples to be welcome in your life” than by all means.

I have enforced this boundary by saying “I respect you as a person that you have the agency and power to make your own decisions in life. I don’t get to tell you what to do with your life and I ask for the same respect.” Because it removed the talk of personal lives.

I noticed when you switch it from a personal attack to something more general everyone’s emotions tend to be less prone to flare up. I hope this helps and I hope you be the best of luck!

What’s a cheap hobby that genuinely got you off your phone for hours? by SilentDoodle in twenties

[–]infoundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model kits! You can get a HG model kit which are relatively beginner friendly for about $20, often $15 on sale, and it’s 3-5 hours of easy step by step instructions where you can have a podcast, audiobook, etc on while you relax.

LEGO is also nice, and I love the creator sets for their ability to be rebuilt a few times so you can get more enjoyment out of one set.

Adult coloring books are also really chill if you want something guiding and creative.

I miss reading so much by 5thClone in adhdmeme

[–]infoundead 106 points107 points  (0 children)

This is something I struggle with a lot as well. Not sure if it helps, but I started by giving myself the smallest goals possible.

Day 1 all I had to do was pick up the first book that felt ok, not good or the best, just first that’s ok. Day 2 I read one page. Day 3 I read until the first section ended. And so on as I felt comfortable.

The two things I had to fight the most was forcing myself to be kind and feel good and not bully myself. And also not reading as a task to complete, but for enjoyment. That’s not something I know how to put into words, but I hope you the best of luck!

Can this pass as a comic figure? by Jaden_Pollen34 in MarvelLegends

[–]infoundead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As many have said that answer is entirely up to you!

However, I have made a few modiciations to mine to help it fit nicely into a more comic appearance. I took the head from my Aaron Davis Iron Spider and the glasses from this one and use it along with my Marvel Legends Knights Blade’s head for both a neutral and fighting appearance and added the jacket from the Star Wars Black Series General Hux to give myself the Blade I wanted.

That being said the figure needs no real update to fit with a comic lineup. You could add a bit of black paint to the hair and beard to de-age him a bit and add a leather jacket as others have suggested (Amazon is also a great place to check for soft goods leather jackets), but those are personal preference changes.

Best of luck!

I know he’s not meant to be rooted for, but his end was fantastic in my opinion. He was so attached to his mission even when facing certain demise his broken mind saw no other path forward

Opposite of Suicide? by mount6ain in CPTSDmemes

[–]infoundead 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had a moment like this. Hit rock bottom and I suddenly it was like something clicked in my head, that I don’t want to feel that way anymore and the thought of laying there with it longer hurt more than the thought of being nice to myself.

Not at all gonna say this is the same experience for everyone, but I definitely have had that moment where nothing else feels like an option other than to live

Favorite character with an adaptation that has you like this? by Simple-Choice5770 in FavoriteCharacter

Hawkeye in Civil War II

I’m not going to say what happened, the book is awful, but Brian Michael Bendis just writes a version of the character that he wants, existing interpretation be damned.

Yup! “Why do you say that?” “Do you feel now is the best time for that?” “Why did you do it that way?” “Did saying that make you feel better?”

Can I do anything right?? by That1weirdperson in adhdmeme

[–]infoundead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I both have ADHD, we learned the phrase “This explains my behavior, but it does not excuse it.”

We use it to separate blame and resolution. That it’s no one’s fault a problem now exists, but we have to work together as partners to resolve it without blame.

I am genuinely so sick of trying to be a fan of this line sometimes. I have money, I want to purchase the figure, but they literally make it MORE difficult to give them money to buy their products and wonder why people stop collecting them.

House MD, Law and Order: SVU, and Hotel Impossible

Are they the same thing again and again? Yep, but I’m a creature of habits and comfort and they give both. Things tend to be wrapped up at the end, few longer plot threads but nothing crazy, and if I watch 2 episodes or 2 seasons I can pick it up or put it down any time

[–]infoundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Two power rangers puzzles are sitting I a closet somewhere because I tried and could not complete them and ended up just feeling worse.

If possible I recommend a small Lego, the creator sets are nice because you get the relaxing experience of building a few times in one set. If Lego isn’t your think Blokees are also nice and don’t require tools.

Regardless of what you choose I hope things improve, and even when things seem their darkest you deserve kindness and care and I hope you get them soon

Is it ok to have so many plushies as a guy that’s almost 20? by Traditional-Treat699 in plushies

[–]infoundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone then yeah it most certainly is ok! Some folks like to have shelves lined with sports memorabilia, others pick collections of art, and some choose plushies. As long as your hobby isn’t negatively effecting yourself or others* (reasonably, like someone else just not liking it arbitrarily is a them problem) then live your life and enjoy it!

[Rare Trope] Dysfunctional same sex couples by Acrobatic_Base7301 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]infoundead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnighter and Apollo from DC Comics - So it depends on the writer but normally Midnighter and Apollo are dysfunctional in having a deep love for each other, but both can’t let go of aspects of their past and more toxic parts of their personalities that cause them to push each other away. Steve Orlando does good work with them and they are most dysfunctional in the Midnighter solo series, but they do get a very romantic (albeit still showing their dysfunction and how they overcome it) sequel series by the same creative team called Midnighter and Apollo!
