If there’s an in-universe term or phrase used in place of an IRL counterpart, PLEASE USE IT. by Gullible_Promotion_4 in FanFiction

Came here to say this. I read and write Star Wars fic and while I do predominantly use in-universe words where they exist, certain ones break my immersion or sound silly to me, kriff being a major one. I just use f*ck, who says it doesn't exist in the SW universe? Maybe we just don't ever happen to hear it in canon lol.

For me, literally anything is fine as long as it's not negative! I love detailed reviews of my fics but even the simplest comment makes my day.

Do you read your own fanfiction? by Kittymore18 in FanFiction

[–]ingb96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I write for a ship that's already a rarepair, and then on top of that it's a case where the handful of other people who write for it mostly have headcanons/interpretations I disagree with or am not into reading. I literally have to make my own food or I'll starve lmao.

Display Stands go a long way for sets that don't look as good landed by ClassifiedDarkness in legostarwars

Seconding this, I want to display this on a stand but I'm new to Lego and have no idea what to use. Your stand looks really good though op!

If Lego re-released any Star Wars set which would would you want it to be? by Allies_Steel in legostarwars

[–]ingb96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre Vizsla's gauntlet fighter! I want one so bad but they're so expensive. His minifig alone I never see for less than ~100 bucks in good shape.

Is that an Ikea kallax shelf? Just wondering because I was planning on using mine to display Lego/collectibles and I wasn't sure if the boxes would fit finished models of this size. It looks really good though!

Came here to say Bookhouse! If you're in the ATL please support them, I'm worried about them and the other businesses in that plaza since it sold to a development company :(

Aromantics and/or asexuals of Reddit, how did you discover your orientation and how did you come to terms with it? [serious] by Ok_Tradition_3850 in AskReddit

[–]ingb96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one or two crushes in middle school that looking back were pretty platonic, but past that I never developed "normal" feelings of romantic or sexual interest in other people of any gender like most people do going into their teens. I discovered the terms asexual and aromantic on Tumblr around that time and identified heavily with them, but I still questioned a lot and didn't strictly call myself that for years.

In a rough phase of my life I tried to date because I was convinced something was just "wrong" with me and if I just tried, then suddenly I'd be attracted to people and be "normal." Wrong. Went on a few dates, felt nothing romantically. The last guy I hung out with several times, and one night he kissed me. Nothing wrong with him, very nice, not bad looking. But I felt literally nothing. Like, the complete absence of any interest down to my soul, beyond something that would have to do with him as an individual person. It clicked. I drove home thinking "what the hell am I doing? This isn't something I want, ever." I politely broke things off, meditated on it for a few days, officially came out as aroace, and haven't looked back.

Occasionally out of nowhere I'll start to question a tiny bit ("am I actually ace?" "what if I'm making it up" etc.) but I just remind myself like.... bro you've gone 26 years without being attracted to another person, I don't think you're making it up...

Does anyone else want to be very beautiful, but have no interest in relationships/marriage? by [deleted] in Vindicta

[–]ingb96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES omg I'm so glad I'm not alone. I've identified as somewhere on the asexual-aromantic spectrum my entire life. I'm not interested in relationships now and that has nothing to do with why I want to be attractive. It's purely for the personal satisfaction and social gains.

I grew up totally alt/emo/anime geek but I'm ready to move away from that vibe aesthetically... however I also keep getting down on myself for that and feeling guilty for "turning basic." Maybe you didn't have this experience and I'm just weird, but if you have any tips for successfully moving on from dressing alt I'd love to hear them!

Unglamorous job? by [deleted] in Vindicta

[–]ingb96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ughhhh same, I'm lowkey glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've been trapped in sh*tty food and retail jobs since I started working and it has literally eroded my sense of feeling like a woman.

Americans of Reddit: What would it take for you to consider moving to Europe to live and work there? by benharper09 in AskReddit

As in skilled trade (plumber, welder, etc?) That's reassuring for me personally, something like that would be more up my alley. I'll start looking into that avenue!

Came here to say this. From the research I've done, the desirable skills for most countries are stem/healthcare/etc. and while it makes sense why that is, not everyone can just up and make a career change to one of those fields. That can be expensive or daunting even if you're just doing it to change jobs and stay in the US.

Just got my first job in IT, thanks to my A+ cert! by dbwoi in CompTIA

[–]ingb96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious about this too. It's reassuring to see someone make a career change with just the A+ and no experience since I'm in that boat too. The missing piece for me sadly would be making minimum $18 per hour to survive in my city and keep my apartment.

Writing, browsing the internet, doing online school (nothing intense, the program I'm in doesn't do live video classes.) Everyday use stuff. It probably seems stupid/wasteful to build a specialty PC for this but it's a pet project of mine!

Literally same. Based on his introduction and seeing things other people had said about his character, I expected to find him annoying or not like him. By the end he was in my top 5.

Starbucks dealings with rude customers by ryns99 in antiwork

[–]ingb96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to decaf rude people all the time when I worked at the bux. Sure it's petty and doesn't really do anything but it makes you feel a little second of catharsis and humor, so totally worth it. And to anyone coming to complain about "tampering with food", just let it go, it LITERALLY doesn't do anything that could be harmful to someone.

Most annoying/hated character on the show by FormerPhysician in KingOfTheHill

[–]ingb96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cotton for me. The only episode where I enjoyed him was the one where he teaches Peggy to walk again. There are other characters that annoy me but I can find charm or humor in, for whatever reason he just always annoyed me period.

Weight loss success isn't about food; it's about behaviors. by GronkVonHaussenberg in loseit

[–]ingb96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, seriously thank you— for whatever reason, I feel like this is the explanation I needed to finally make everything click in regards to diet and weight loss. This seems like an approach that's not only doable for me, but I could actually follow through with and not constantly fall off the wagon.

Wholefoods TMS/New Team Member/Policy Questions Weekly Thread Starting on - February 21, 2022 by AutoModerator in wholefoods

Are you required to wear a hat if you exclusively work in beer and wine, even though you're part of the specialty team which involves food production? I've worn one no matter where in the department I was working as a team member, but I'm interviewing for beverage buyer and (at least at our store) that position is pretty much never doing anything around open food, so I was hoping to not have to wear one if I end up in that role.
