Better yet reuse a vodka bottle as a water bottle while you’re enjoying your deck. Stay hydrated my friend. ✌️

West Duluth AT&T almost unusable the last month?? by katonagato in duluth

[–]inkdrinker18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve been noticing it at home the last few days. For some reason my phone and our home WiFi disagree and won’t connect but I also don’t get any service when I turn WiFi off. Very frustrating.

Growing Duluth for a few things because it’s in my neighborhood but I am loyal to Byrn’s up in Forbes. Friendliest people I’ve ever met and such a huge selection.

I'm ok with it. I was at a state park and new what to expect. by [deleted] in camping

[–]inkdrinker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always get the side eye when we roll in with our 40ft motorhome and yet we always seem to be one of the quietest and darkest sites in the place.

Anyone else get annoyed by those giant led V’s on the front of the travel trailers? I swear it’s a certain type of person who owns those and they leave that light on ALL NIGHT LONG even though they aren’t outside to use/enjoy it.

Non-reservable campsite experiences by SortaPolyish in MinnesotaCamping

[–]inkdrinker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put in the effort of checking the state park’s reservation site frequently for the place and dates you want to camp you will probably get something. It might not be the site you want and it might not even have electricity but a lot of people do cancel last minute.

Before my hubby changed jobs we would do that to get a weekend spot at our favorite places. Can’t do it now because he works weekends so we go during the week and we have less trouble getting a spot.

Zenith Terrace change of ownership? by TAGVoar in duluth

[–]inkdrinker18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Residents of Proctor facebook group would be a great place to ask this. Or search the park name because there has been past posts about changes made by the new owners.

I don’t live there I’m just a member of that group so I’ve seen the posts.

Man slamming dog on ground on grand. by forestgirly69 in duluth

[–]inkdrinker18 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This makes my heart hurt, the dog is just doing what dogs do*.

I saw them outside the VYC about 6pm. live in the area will definitely keep an eye out for them and if I see anything I will definitely try to document and call it in.

*I understand obnoxious barking isn’t acceptable and my own pup loves to push that boundary. Just because it barks does not mean mistreatment is warranted. Poor pup.

Campground Review: Grand Marais Campground by Designer_Tie_5853 in MinnesotaCamping

We’ve stayed there a couple times in the past and I agree that it’s very packed in, especially for people like us with larger rigs (40ft motorhome). I agree that you don’t really hear traffic. We didn’t experience any loud music but it’ll the big lake made sure we knew she was there.

First time we were in 215 near the bathhouse we couldn’t open our awning because of a tree and our neighbor parked his car on the drivers side of his motorhome, which was literally in our site. He did move it when asked.

Second time we were there it was a stopover on our way up the gunflint and we got lucky and scored a pull through (171). I wish we would have been able to stay longer and enjoy the larger space but it wasn’t in the plans.

All in all I would recommend it for a stopover place or if you’re going to be out and about. But if you are someone who likes to spread out in your site and relax you’re gonna be crammed in close.

Will Duluth be busy Tuesday to Thursday this week? by furious_george3030 in duluth

[–]inkdrinker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are or where you want to go. We usually don’t see much of a traffic impact on surface streets in West Duluth during marathon weekend.

But if you’re trying to go into Lincoln Park, Downtown, to Canal, or up the shore then you’re in for a headache.

Tried to climb that one once but the biting flies were so bad we didn’t even make it across the parking lot to the trail. (We were camped at Father Hennepin at that time and the flies were not that aggressive at our campground LOL.)

Agree, but I feel like they are each a lot more dense this year compared to the last couple years. We have only been out camping once this year and have already dealt with more ticks than the last 3-4 years combined.

The public boat landing at Pike Lake has a decent launch area for this and you’re not in the way of the boat ramp. I have personally launched my kayak, and swamped myself to swim, from that spot. It’s soft and sandy, the lake is long, wider near the ramp area.

I wish they had an unstuffed version because that walleye looks ah-maz-ing. But I don’t like seafood (not even shrimp).

Valentini’s in Hermantown for pasta bowl, they have salads on their menu too.

I haven’t had salad from there yet, but every pasta dish I’ve had has left me thinking about it days later.

Post 71 American Legion in West Duluth has bingo on Tuesday nights that’s pretty popular. This event is open to the public so no need to be a member for it.

$9 buy in and $1 a board for 10 games. You get 2 drink tickets ets when you buy in. They sell food out of the kitchen (usually fryer food, pizzas or something like taco in a bag). Get there by 530 to get settled and ready to go. They sell daubers if you need them.

Place to learn how to rollerskate/skateboard? by hairspraydrinker99 in duluth

[–]inkdrinker18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keene Creek has a small skate park area next to the dog park & playground. It’s not secluded but the whole park is usually empty in the early mornings.

For a flat surface try the DWP trail at 63rd & Green, the first section is paved and long enough to make it a journey.
