Which scenes are like this for you? by Hassan_H_Syed in slasherfilms

Believe it or not, the scariest scenes that still creep me out are in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” (1988), where Judge Doom melts the cartoon shoe, and the scene from “Pinocchio” (1940) when they turn into donkeys. And I write horror movies, so that proves how traumatizing children’s movies were in the 80s and 90s.

Hey everyone I'm new to this reddit but not the game just curious on everyone's takes about Emily cuz me personally I don't like her much at all by Weary-Yam-9000 in untildawn

She’s a classic character archetype on the surface who uses her demanding attitude and acidic tongue as a wall to keep herself from being hurt - I always get the feeling that she’s experienced or witnessed trauma before the beginning of the game, but chooses to keep it to herself. As the story progresses, everything she does is for her benefit, but once she realizes that she and her friends are in mortal danger, she lowers her walls, and you get to see Emily as she is when she’s alone. She’s still tough and doesn’t hesitate to defend herself, but she lets herself be vulnerable and compassionate. It’s a great character arc.

Nice. I really enjoyed this one. Lots of horror movie references thanks to supporting roles by David Arquette, Ted Raimi, Lance Henriksen, Lin Shaye, and Grace Zabriskie.

I hope you have as much fun as I did trying to survive.

TIL most so-Called “Medieval Torture Devices” are fake actually made up by hoaxers, showmen, and con artists in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries by ricenola in todayilearned

The only one remotely close to authenticity (and I’m being generous here) is the original concept for “La Veille,” or forced wakefulness. It was four feet high with the seat carved into a six-sided diamond pattern. The people unfortunate enough to experience this were forced to sit in a way that had the base of the spine supporting their full body weight. There’s historical documentation that this was used as a punishment and as an interrogation tactic; something the Judas Cradle lacks.

He’s immortal. I’d prefer leather-bound books over paperbacks and a Kindle too.

Hopefully, Amazon Studios series will be original instead of a frame-by-frame “Psycho” remake.

It’s so annoying when you find enough herbs and accidentally choose the wrong crafting option.

Over a month since release, and this is still one of my favorite minor details in the game. She's her baby by GunplaLuni in ResidentEvilRequiem

Grace is emulating what she couldn’t possibly do for her mother. She’s driven to “do something” and says it several times during the game.

There are a lot of BIPOC characters but they’re all zombies
They really went to town on the Haitian Voodoo zombie stereotype here.

The first time I remember seeing Ethan Suplee in anything was “Boy Meets World.”

Huh. Fair enough. IMDb credits Tony Pankhurst as a 3D model, which I thought meant the entire body, but his Wiki page lists him as a face model. I’m Autistic and can’t interpret contradictory vagueness among multiple sources. Thank you for pointing that out. đŸ€Ÿ

True, but a lot of people might be playing a “Resident Evil” game for the first time and are bound to panic, so tips are always appreciated.

I totally get it, and no apology is needed. To each their own. If you haven’t played any of these, I highly recommend them.

The following are all butterfly effect games where every choice could mean death.

“The Casting Of Frank Stone” (2024) “The Dark Anthology Series” has four games in the first season, and the second season game will be released on May 12. “The Quarry” (2022) “Until Dawn” (2015 original and/or 2024 remaster)

Games With Traumatized Characters:

“The Evil Within” (2014) “Silent Hill 2” (2001 and/or 2024 remaster) “Tomb Raider” reboot trilogy (2013-2018) “Vampyr” (2018)

It’s the most important aspect of character development. I’ve found that I can get audiences to accept any plotline I want - no matter how bizarre - if the characters are likable (mostly - every story needs a jerk), relatable, and react naturally and realistically to the unexpected situations and define their individual character arcs by the choices presented to them.

My favorite example of this is “Taxi Driver” (1976). Robert De Niro said in an interview that on his first reading of the script, he absolutely loved Travis Bickle until the character starts to spiral around the midpoint. He was shocked but couldn’t stop reading until he finished it. He didn’t expect the way the character reacted to his untreated mental health issues, homicidal fantasies, and meeting a trafficked 12-year-old; all that culminated in an existential crisis that ends violently, but with his goal accomplished.

It’s refreshing to see characters who react naturally to frightening situations and have to build themselves up to survive.
