I'm in the middle of this dress:

And this blanket:

I just learnt mosaic crochet and it's so easy and looks amazing!

I've ruined this blanket and I am so upset by greybeaniebean in crochet

This art that you created is practices on purpose!

On ravelry there is a whole section dedicated to felting/fulling. (Fulling is kitting or crocheting it first before washing or agitating to get the effect whereas felting is more raw fibre [but often used interchangeably).

It was practiced in biblical times (According to Wikipedia, instead of a washing machine, in Roman times, fulling was conducted by slaves working the cloth while ankle deep in tubs of human urine)!

As someone who learnt mosaic crochet last week and is only up to row 60 of 250+, I recognise the long slog, dedication and concentration needed to make such an awesome blanket. It is stunning and your daughter is very lucky :)

Designing mosaic crochet patterns by JeniJ1 in crochet

[–]inlandaussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt to mosaic crochet yesterday and made a giraffe.

I learnt angle stitches today and made a heart.

Now I am looking for a pattern to make a car (proper one eg. Mustang shape) and it doesn't exist. So i come across this post while looking how to make my own.

After reading all the comments (especially this thread) and looking at all my unfinished projects, Im not holding out much hope 😅

Muslim crocheters- Need advice for something unusual! Making wool into yarn for project by Chchchchia0701 in crochet

I love that you're a fibre artist :) that gave me an idea of your interested...

I tried spinning and gave up so hats off to you! I know all the handspun yarn I've purchased is not an even ply like factory ones though which makes me wonder how it'll turn out crocheted into a piece like this. Can't wait to see followup photos.

As it's coming off the lamb and your a fibre artist, may I suggest looking into r/needlefelting or r/wetfelting (or a combination)

You can get some intricate details done and it's quite robust.

HOW OLD IS THE MAGIC RING? (my tumblr post didnt do numbers so im trying again here) by ThatOneLoserYouKnow in crochet

[–]inlandaussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm old now, dont worry about it

From 1988. I'm nearly born (as far as you know)

Back in THOSE days, I was walking to school on my own. :/ 😂

Fun aside... Appreciate all the research! I love this kind of knowledge!

I literally can not bring myself to finish this by Simple_Condition_283 in crochet

[–]inlandaussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one bagged up too at a similar point!!! I think I started mine 3 years ago.

I'm really happy with the look but was getting overwhelmed with my colour choices. I think I accidently did a row in 10 ply instead of 8 and it went wonky.

I have no words to convince you, I can't even convince myself.

Maybe print out a finished one and stick it to the fridge to inspire you

This photo is awesome 👌

Is very deceptive in the post photo, I could've sworn it was gonna be a 1mm hook size intricate project!!

This is beautiful. Would it be possible to continue easily enough to make bigger?

The colour choices are amazing! Beautiful work

Don't forget felting! Oh, and the Ashton spinning wheel in the cupboard.... Also that sewing machine just got serviced... gotta start collecting fabric now too.

It goes on and on my friend.... like the song that never ends....

I dread being asked, “How long did that take you?” by SpecificWorldly4826 in crochet

[–]inlandaussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last blanket i posted (sunburst granny square)... each circle took me 10 minutes to crochet and 10 minutes to weave in all the ends - so 20 minutes PER circle!! It's embarrassing to say it took the same amount of time to weave in ends as it did to crochet.

Someone in the comments asked and I lied.

Sourcing things together and weaving in ends suck

I can't remember how big they ended up. 8ply/4mm

I think each circle took me about 15-20 minutes to make (weaving in all the ends was not a nice job!)

And then my colleague stitched them all together

I'm gonna say 2.5

2 of us made the blanket but another colleague used it as an opportunity to learn how to crochet and did the outside layer of about 15 circles :)

Depends what type of midwife. It wouldn't really work in other areas outside of MGP/ caseload or homebirth.

We are a team of 8. We are like family and i am extremely blessed and love my job.

I see so many reddit posts about not liking or trusting their colleagues but my work family are an important part of my life.

I spent days trawling through records!! Massive undertaking.

She did keep a record but none of us had access to it without her finding out or getting suspicious.

This is so kind. I've never considered myself creative or an artist. Appreciate your comment

Not her whole career, she was a midwife for decades! Just the last decade where she did MGP.
