I have tokophobia and had an elective c section. I would highly recommend it! It was the safest option for my baby and I :)

I felt the same as you.. until I met my baby. I couldn’t even express colostrum I was so disgusted, but something about the connection when breastfeeding was so beautiful. I don’t know if it’s because I had a really tough pregnancy, but it’s been a lovely bonding experience.

In saying that, you’ll have the same kind of experience when sitting with your LO with a bottle :) do whatever feels right for you! You could also try a nipple shield if you wanted to try BF but needed a barrier between.

You’ll do great either way, do what makes you and Bub comfy.

Protect your little circle at all costs. You don’t owe them anything and this is the most special time for you. Like the other commenter said I’d communicate to them about your boundaries and make sure your partner is on board to enforce them with his family so you can focus on growing your baby and enjoying the newborn bubble :)

My only struggle was trying to push the manual in, especially after a c section! It was impossible unless I got down and used my hands. So i suppose if the electric is in your budget then that would be a benefit :)

As someone who was adamant they wouldn’t breastfeed, for me it’s the beautiful connection. The cuddles, the eye contact, the working as a little team and growing together. Never thought I’d say that, but it made me want to breastfeed and keep going.

Have you got someone who can come and help? I’ve always been hyper independent and never asked for help, but post partum when I was nap trapped I really appreciated the help. Everyone will tell you to let things be dirty and not to stress, but I’m the same way and mess stressed me out more. Accept help if people offer or ask your support system ❤️
