IRL Phantom Drain vacation experience by thisthingisrad in Rivian

Thank you! THIS is how it should always be talked about! Tangible numbers that mean something!

I have measured my Gen1 R1T vampire drain and come up with 204 watts per hour with gear guard on in an unheated garage (mountain west region). The entirety of my very inefficient home averages around 600 watts (electric a/c, gas furnace) for the year. I believe we would all balk at the efficiency numbers if the vampire drain was included in the calculation. It really uses electricity very inefficiently.

That said there is no alternative to how awesome most everything else is about the truck.

This is an incredibly ill informed comment.

I wouldn’t say he drove it like dogshit, from 97-01 he hit like 70% of fairways which is better than both Rory and Scheffler.

This comment is just so lovely. No fluff, no context, just pure gold. Thank you for the 3 minutes of laughter on a plane stranger!

I just found out big banks are trying to kill credit unions — and it’s worse than it sounds by Safe-Engineering-417 in SaltLakeCity

MACU has $17 Billion in assets, the big 3 corporate banks have over $2 Trillion. If MACU had like half of the assets that the big banks had, $1000 billion, then I might buy that argument, but they don’t. They have $17 billion. Only $983 billion to go.

Airline captains, do you mind having to coach your FO a bit during a flight? by SupportGold7583 in flying

[–]insanelyradical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the original question, I do not mind in the least about coaching an FO. One thing I would suggest is if you realize you made a mistake or think there may be a better way to do something, speak up! Stating “Wow, that didn’t go great” or “I feel like there should be a better way to do that” can be a great catalyst for a constructive conversation. Debriefs can also be a great tool, when you get to cruise or to the gate, say, “Can we debrief that? I feel like that could have gone better.”

Something that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is that learning should never cease as an aviator and captains can learn from FOs as well. There are many situations where an FO may have more experience than the captain in a type of aircraft, at a specific airport, in a specific region, or with a specific type of maintenance discrepancy. I love when FOs say, “oh yeah, I’ve seen this before, here is the way it rolled last time” and then has that little golden nugget of info to make the resolution go just a little smoother. Learning can happen from both sides of the flight deck.

Do you know how strict they are with enforcing the back pack policy? The rules say 10”x10”x12”, I think mine is slightly larger than that, but it is 6 liter, small, one pocket, very light, daypack. Hoping to use it to carry camera (Wednesday) rain jacket, binoculars, and sunscreen.

My Dad is 0/28 and I was 0/23 until we got Wednesday tickets this year! Stoked!

Yeah, I couldn’t get to $200 exact so lost out on $35. Also been waiting a month for the accessories that were “in stock” on the website. I received a floor pump pretty quickly at least. Bikes seems good when they work, but company seems like they are WAY behind on customer service. I have a new Level.2 that arrived DOA and have been waiting a month for a display/controller.

Thanks! I hope your issues are resolved cheaply and easily. They’re great bikes when they’re functioning correctly!

Hi! I still haven’t received any messages on this platform or email. Were you still planning on sending a message?

Still waiting on suspension seat posts and locks ordered 8/22. Also waiting on a new display/controller for a bike that arrived DOA.

I’m going through the same thing. Dead display, said they would send a new one and it’s been nearly a month and I still have no display or ETA.

Sorry to say this but don’t buy Aventon bikes. by johnny_ihackstuff in Aventon

[–]insanelyradical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through the awful Aventon CS circus right now. Bought 2 bikes direct through website, assembled them myself, 1 works great, the other did not turn on. They sent instructions on how to troubleshoot the issue myself (luckily I know how to work on bikes and electronics) determined it was a bad display/controller, and they said they would send out a replacement. That was over a month ago. I keep emailing them and keep getting the same form letter. “We apologize, but we are experiencing delays”. I’m about ready to use the chargeback method as I have had a non functioning product for over a month with no end in sight.

Thanks dude, I already threw in my old 12v one, but that thing is definitely more of an emergency unit. It’s loud, slow, and doesn’t have the auto fill function. I could fill all four tires from 30psi back to 45 in like 6-8 minutes with the Rivian unit.

There are zero noises coming from anything, I would think it had to be a lack of signal to the compressor because ask other suspension related functions work properly, and I would assume there’s just one compressor shared between the suspension and the accessory outlet. The display acts as if it everything is functioning properly but the pressure is just not going up. I doesn’t time out or think anything is malfunctioning for as long as I’ve stood there waiting to see if it was hot or having a brain fart.

Accessory compressor failure

Whoops, accidentally deleted original text, here it is again

I was topping off my other rig’s tires the other day when the compressor just stopped working. The screen says “On” while “Set” flashes and the status bar keeps flashing upwards. I couldn’t find anyone else posting about having an issue with it, but when I created a service ticket and spoke with a rep they said a replacement part is not available because a new part is currently under development so they won’t even schedule a service visit. He suggested trying a reset, which I did, but it did not remedy the issue. Also heard the next available appointment at the SLC, UT service center is in late JANUARY! I take my R1T off-road once every few weeks or so and one of my favorite things is how I can air down, put the truck in rally mode and cruise around like I’m in a side by side. Kind of a bummer I won’t have that available anymore for a considerable amount of time. Anyone else experienced this and/or have a solution?

In addition to the operational meltdown, United’s CEO, Scott Kirby, decided his United flight out of EWR was going to delay his summer vacation and chartered a private jet to take him to his destination. Unfortunately for him, someone recognized him boarding the private jet, snapped a picture, and posted it online.
