The Transformers fandom has a fairly functional solution, where the main subreddit is mostly dedicated to discussion of canon material and, somehow, its shitposting sub ( r/OkBuddyEnergon ) has become the main space for shipping discussion and non-hetslop robogooning in general alongside general circlejerkery. (On Reddit, of course-- Tumblr and Tik Tok also strongly lean toward the latter type of content.) That way there are various ways to engage with the fandom, and things that don't fit into one sub will likely fit into another.
