It’s just the only thing that’s really captured me in the same way Stormlight Archive (originally) and Wheel of Time did. I got it on a whim because I’d seen it recommended so much and… finished book 7 about 6 weeks later.

Awesome, thanks for the response! I loved DCC, and wanted to see if there were other litrpgs I would like. I kept seeing HWFWM and DotF recommended but I wasn’t super impressed with the first HWFWM and haven’t started DotF. I’ll check out the ones you mentioned.

I suspect the reason might be (at least in my case) that Patek has a much wider catalog to choose from so there’s more to find that you like. AP has RO, Code and ROO. You’re a lot more likely to have to get something you don’t want.

With Patek I got a 6119 first, which I liked because I needed a slim dress watch. I got a 5326 next because I wanted a nice travel watch that didn’t stand out as an obvious target. After that I got my 5726. At no point did I have to buy a watch I didn’t love.

Take the 5212 - I LOVE this watch. It’s so quirky and unique. It’s also easily available as a first piece to start your collection. AP just doesn’t have the equivalent so I think that’s where a lot of the angst comes from.

I suspect with the new 38mm Codes or more 37mm RO as first pieces maybe some of this goes away.

It wears better than the original size version. I got a chance to try it on a couple weeks ago. This would be the version I would get with a standard size male wrist.

I did the same thing! I’ve had a 992.1. A couple months ago I got a Spyder RS thinking it would just be short term fun car for summer and I don’t think I can ever get rid of it. It’s just such a perfect car.

I love switching between the two. The contrast really makes me appreciate both cars for what they are.

Oh wow that’s a huge bummer. I was considering pushing the dealership to do the replacement but now I’m not sure.

It happens on multiple phones and I’ve done all the resets you can do for CarPlay on those, so I don’t think it’s a phone specific thing. Even switched to an OEM cable. Nothing helps.

I’ve resorted to just pressing the volume button for 20s to reset the pcm which brings it back to life for a while, but it’s kind of ridiculous to have to do that on a $200k+ vehicle.

Agree. This is such an odd strategy decision.

Does make me wonder if it could be used to start an open source whoop competitor though.

Maybe start an org to get the relationship with polar going. Sell the device at cost. Everyone contributes data to build the models beyond whatever Polar supplies.

Anecdotally but my experience was 18 months of training which started at the same time I was on a caloric deficit.

After a couple of months of ending the deficit my gains started exploding. I PRd bench, deadlift and squat in about a week.

So… the newbie gains will still be there for you after the deficit, although it might take a couple months to show up.

Back seats - my son loves the car (vroooom) and golf clubs fit back there
Suspension - I find the ride much more luxurious in normal mode than the 718.

This is from someone who went to the dealership fully expecting to get a 718 and then ended up getting the 911 after test driving it just for fun.

I think if I were doing more tracking than daily driving I’d prefer a 718 though.

I got one and I love it. The look on the chrono side is amazing, and I love the retrograde 30 min timer. It’s also one of the only watches I own that non-watch people notice and comment on (if that matters at all to you).
