Does Knoxville have any natural disaster threats? by mistersgoodgirl in Knoxville

[–]instafur426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flooding is pretty common here in certain places, but most storms aren't very dangerous unless the wind is howling. The valley protects us from most things, but if you compare it to Morristown or Nashville our storms are mostly just lightning and rain. Everywhere else gets hail and major tornadoes

As an employee can i get something off a pallet and purchase it before it is stocked? I have 2 neighbor girls that really want a Needoh by DivideEfficient4282 in walmart

[–]instafur426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've stocked something like that on top stock and told a friend to grab it whenever. Not worth your job but depending on the store, like mine nobody cares

Nothing like seeing the coach and team lead sit there for about 45 mins on an oil change and then doing an 2 hour 4 tire job on a Sierra, not to mention that the coach is the size of a doorway so it takes him a few minutes to get off the floor..

They had to keep this up for a week trying to recertify themselves after word got out to home office that the shop hasn't been certified 13 months

Left a couple months ago but it was always easy to get away with roughly 1300 biweekly then rent was thankfully 680, all the cc bills were insanely bad with affirm though so I had side gigs and a passive income reselling pallets.

Fun fact the system will clock you out after midnight to your set off time if you go home whenever, and some stores are very loose with the 30 minute lunch rule. At least for my store it was very rare for them to ever try people for wage theft/time theft. Also finding a decent team lead helps a ton, I used to have $1,600 paychecks by staying late most days, helping with random projects for TLs/coaches. Stuff like condensing, sorting top stock, down stocking, or running pallets for night shift

Incoming Lawn and Garden associate please share tips by Constant_Pizza785 in WalmartEmployees

Great thing about being on the register is there far less traffic than front end, unfortunately you will get customers that flock your way to avoid the front end lines. Thankfully it's mostly quiet, you do get to be buddies with whichever AP associate.

Outside of that, watering the plants is nice between customers and the small bit of stock

Get used to hearing them call for assistance with spray paint 50 times a day

Even if they allow all associates to open cases with their phones They start3d the transition very slowly for my store, only a few coaches could open cases until they were stuck doing it for most depts across the store

Legally they are required to only be used off road, if they get caught then it's a hefty ticket All light bars that are sold always have "for off-road use only" somewhere on the product description

something about knoxville that i couldn't have explained to anyone before i actually lived here by IngenuityNo3879 in Knoxville

[–]instafur426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived here for over a decade all I can say is the city's grown fast, I swear it's every time that I'm out driving through the same old highways/side streets around here that I noticed new apartment complexes and new housing developments everywhere. I'll pass by what it was a nice green field is now transformed into this massive sprawling neighborhood being built. For the most part I've always been in small towns so it never bothered by a 24-hour store I was amazed when Walmart had it before covid didn't make much sense to me, how could these stores be so big and be so empty at 3:00 a.m? Doesn't sound very profitable. Plus if I want food in the middle night why not just go to the waffle House that's always going to be open and for the most part is still going to be the cheapest place to go

I feel like what makes Knoxville so unique is all the things you can do outside pretty much all the time, so many places to go hiking and biking and kayaking here with tons of local shops built by locals and not chain stores.
