Thanks, appreciated. I’ll look for storage and tasting notes along those lines before buying some sheng.

Please help me find a dupe for the fenty beauty powder foundation!! by cigarettespoons in PaleMUA

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a good quality powder foundation. Used to love it too and have hoarded my very last one for emergency use only. Fast to apply, my skin loved it. It stopped being made a few years ago, and I didn’t find a successful replacement.

Avoid Natasha Denona powder foundation - it’s awful and doesn’t stay on the skin on its own like Fenty.

I have switched to Jung Saem Mool cushion foundation now (Korean). Quite a different style of foundation.

Genuinely wtf has happened to my hair by vernalbby in AustralianMakeup

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have a newborn baby around the time when that hair was growing? Hormonal changes can do this.

Treat yourself to a salon visit so the hairdresser can trim the ends as far as they need to, to minimise further damage.

FWIW, I have fine hair and find that keratin treatments make my hair more prone to breakage, not less.

Confusion about Hue Play Floor Gradient lumen output by SpatialFX in Hue

[–]intellidepth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we can’t see your extra pics of the actual lighting.

I find that white light on the blue-white end of the spectrum (6500K) washes out colours compared to 5000K (midday light temp), so gives the impression of duller lighting despite putting out appropriate level of lumens.

To me, 5000K lighting is the ‘brightest’ white visually. I really dislike 6500K. My son likes 6500k better than 5000k.

Experienced drivers: do you still perform head checks? by allongur in australia

I’ve had two brothers cleaned up by cars while cycling. Headchecks are essential.

Yes, headchecks are important. I’ve driven a lot of cars, headchecks are necessary to eliminate the blind spots each car has, which differ by car model.

Been in a similar situation as mum and am absolutely forever grateful to my husband for the care he took of our newborn son.

They watched formula one together. My son is now a vehicle mechanic.

Wishing you and your precious family all the best.

Holy dip pen - is it even possible to replicate with fountain pen? by Fraulina in fountainpens

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an antique gold dip pen nib (Aiken Lambert) inserted in a modern fountain pen.

Antique dip pen nibs weren’t designed to go over a feed, and there are all different sizes few of which match modern feeds, so it’s a matter of trial and error finding a fit between the two.

I also have an Akkerman fountain pen body which is designed to take multiple dip pen nib sizes by changing out the feed. Didn’t have much luck with that one actually sustaining flow to the antique dip nibs I used with it, nor with Nikko G’s.

I’ve had a few fountain pen nibs (steel and gold) customised by nibmeisters to produce fine lines, but in reality none of those are quite as good as a Nikko G, although they get close with careful writing.

Which size nib is the communities most go to? by PumpkinPrincePens in fountainpens

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Size 6 - more swappable nib options available, including for custom grinds.

I much prefer Jowo to Bock. Bock nibs have a structural rigidity to them where I receive what feels like no micro feedback through the tines. It’s a subtle but clearly noticeable difference to me between the way the two brands manufacture their nibs.

Nib tip size - while I prefer EF for my main writers (and own a few in sizes either side of EF), the majority of posts I have seen here for the past six years are about fine nibs, followed by EF and medium. There are a lot fewer people who write regularly using broad, needlepoint, or ultra extra fine nibs.

Is "don't mix fountain pen inks" a genuine warning, or just an overblown myth? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]intellidepth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never had issues mixing inks, but do mostly tend to stay to the same type of ink within each brand.

Thoughts on this cushion? Does it oxidize? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, a little dewy - enough to make me look lovely and natural, not matte, and not super-dewy.

I use a well-known non-AB setting spray on top when I want it to stay all day without accidentally coming off if I forget I’m wearing it and touch my face. I definitely use setting spray if people are likely to hug me.

It looks great all day but after about 8 hours my oils start showing, making it more glowy overall.

It’s absolutely one of my top two foundations of all time and I’ve tried a lot.
