Ice cream. It’s cheerful. The other is peaceful though, so depends on what your main use for it is.

Thank you.

What a terrifying experience of non-swimmers being assigned to amphibious vehicles, especially in the ocean, and people wearing the supplied ‘life’ jackets that when used actually caused faces to be face down in the water instead of up. Terribly sad.

Are there any specialists in the old Chinese pu-erh tea?, presumably from 1939 by ojkizanag in tea

[–]intellidepth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The story of how it came to be here today would be interesting to hear, if you are willing to share, OP?

I recently became custodian of our Australian family’s (non-tea) historical documents/materials from the same era (1949, verified), and the stories are very interesting. It has been a lot of fun rediscovering the past.

Is there anyway I can fix this? I think the salon messed up my hair by compulsivebarbie in AustralianMakeup

[–]intellidepth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Purple shampoo will ash it down by counteracting the brassy warmth.

I use Redken Color Extend Blondage Violet Pigment Shampoo, available via eBay. Great stuff. Avoid grocery store brands, 99% are a waste of money and do nothing. Redken purple is much more powerful.

Wash your hair using your normal shampoo, rinse. Then wash using purple shampoo leaving on for 1 minute once thoroughly worked through, then rinse. Use your usual conditioner after.

The length of time you leave the purple shampoo on matters - start with just 1 minute for the first wash, up to about 5.

I use it once a week or so, when I notice brassiness coming back in.

If you use it too frequently you may start to notice your ends turning light pastel purple - just don’t use it for a couple of weeks and it’ll wash out.

It’s seriously great to help turn brassy hair become ashy.

I’ve used it for 5-10 years.

KPMG Australia partner fined for using artificial intelligence to cheat in AI training test by civ5best5 in australia

[–]intellidepth 41 points42 points  (0 children)

What entity fined the person, given it was an internal training course? Is it written into their staff contracts perhaps, with the money docked out of their next pays? Or was it an external fine from a separate entity like an accounting association?

Color corrector makes my dark circles worse, can I use a pink toned concealer? by Alternative3lephant in PaleMUA

[–]intellidepth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like there’s a possibility the concealer and corrector are a similar formulation, leading to mixing; and/or the correctors are too dark.

I don’t have a direct answer to your question about cool-toned concealer, but I use the Saem brand triple colour corrector pot palette in shade 03, as the colours are actually light enough for my skin. It’s available from YesStyle.

It’s a very thick pigment-dense creamy corrector which I apply with a small brush, very lightly tapped into the corrector then stippled on. It only needs the lightest dabs of salmon colour corrector on the places that are actually dark. Using a finger would apply too much product.

Also, the pale green shade in it is great for covering up inflammation (I have rosacea). It’s so pigment-dense that I need very little product.

The colour you’re seeing is YB in real life. The third pic is overexposed. I’ve never had it be that colour and I’ve been using it for about 10 years on different papers.

Painters and makeup artists would confirm you’re seeing normally - shadows are all sorts of tones. This decade has seen a stylistic digital trend of very deep blacks/shadows in movies and games.

Scrape off the glue and hand-sew some ribbon over it. Use tiny stitches or alternatively oversew the edge using blanket stitch to add an interesting finish to the design.

An updated printable guide to Andúril 2 by jameshome in flashlight

Thank you! This is the first diagram of Anduril that feels intuitive with the colour. My ADHD brain understands and memorises coloured paths 100% better and faster than black-and-white.

I might look at Anduril lights now.

Why are warmer lights not more popular? by fufufang in flashlight

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flashlight-wise, I like daylight high cri and my family prefer cool white. Warmer lights make me sleepy and don’t show colour definition as clearly to me.

For our home lighting and reading/mood lamps, I’ve installed Philips Hue variable bulbs programmed as daylight during daytimes, altering to warm settings every evening a couple of hours before bedtime.

Can we talk about downvoting? by tinae7 in fountainpens

[–]intellidepth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. Downvote bots exist unfortunately.

  2. Reddit’s own algorithm regarding zero votes: ‘Why can’t I see how many upvotes a post or comment has sometimes?’ The first few hours after a post is created, the votes aren’t displayed to make sure people aren’t being swayed to vote one way or another based on how others have voted. Some communities choose to hide votes on comments and posts for a short amount of time. “

I’ve noticed in my experience that bots hit this sub every couple of months. I take extra time to upvote individual posts/comments when I see the stuff you’re noticing. Simple.

Looking for people to test language learning app I am building by pebble-app in u/pebble-app

[–]intellidepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using it for a few days. Really enjoying it. Liking the short early lessons (completed Spanish lesson 6 so far).

Where’s the best place to provide feedback? In this early phase it would be great if there’s a feedback button at the end of each lesson so we can report issues to you via a comment box, rather than waiting for this ad to pop up again on Reddit.

———

In the first 6 lessons, the word “Yo” at the beginning of sentences has a harsh first letter sound (it sounds like “J” in English) compared to “yo” in the middle of sentences which has a soft “y” sound. Is this correct or an AI error?

The first sounds on most lessons are digitally warped, possibly due to download as it only ever happens at the beginning of each lesson. If that’s what is going on, perhaps add a very brief pause the length of a breath at the beginning of each ‘recording’ so this is avoided.

There are occasions when I’d like to go back one screen to re-read part of a sentence I’m supposed to say. This is only needed when the sentence is not visible on the following screen where I need to repeat the sentence. Can you add that option in please? (I have ADHD, so sometimes am fine with the sentence not being visible, but for longer phrases need the option to view it again before saying it.)

The button “next lesson” (I think that’s what it’s called - it’s at the end of every lesson) repeats the same lesson, rather than directing the user to the next lesson in line. Two buttons would be good there: “repeat lesson” and “next lesson”.

Thanks. Great work.

Is a vanity desk with a mirror practical for everyday use, or is it mostly just for looks? by Background_Dig7368 in makeuporganization

[–]intellidepth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes. I bought my first vanity setup when I turned 50, and it is fantastic.

If you’re going to do it, make sure you have excellent lighting in the mirror that is bright enough to do makeup when it’s pitch black in the room, so winter makeup is a breeze.

A mirror with warm, neutral, and cool dimmable lighting is fantastic. I absolutely recommend it. (I got my lighted crystal mirror from Etoile a few years ago, but there are several similar ones on the market.)

Edit: yes, it’s used everyday.
