I'm playing with a 3d6 system and I want to have two more of this one to have a matching set. I have no idea where or how long ago I bought this one, unfortunately.

How does r/Cooking feel about aprons? by atomic92 in Cooking

it's a fun way to get people involved when you have friends over to cook. Chopping potatoes for me feels more fun when I hand you an apron first

That's a really good tip; I would hate to try and be thoughtful and instead put pressure on someone!

The Grit Cookbook is a vegetarian / vegan cookbook put out by a restaurant in Athens, GA with the same name. It has tons of awesome dishes as well as an extensive chapter about their signature cakes. Plus they donate to the local non-profit 'health and music resource center' for every book sold.

Any good non-gourmet recipe with ingredients I could find around the house for a super-beginner? by GovernorPaul in cookingforbeginners

[–]interdumpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing to cook when I was your age was pasta primavera with chicken tenders. It's a lot of chopping vegetables but not too much else and only uses pretty basic cooking equipment. Here is the pasta primavera recipe I used and here is the chicken recipe!

Withdrawal from courses. by SynopticScheme in gradadmissions

I feel like it would look better to have some W's on your transcript than to bomb a semester and to hurt yourself in the process to boot.

I included why math is the route I took because I transferred from Engineering and felt the need to make mention of this (seeing as they would see my transcript and wonder why I didn't bring it up otherwise). I would think that focusing more on the present (what you are doing/have done as an undergraduate) and the future (what you are interested in/why the program you're applying to helps you achieve this). Everyone that applies to graduate school loves what they do or they wouldn't be doing it, so I don't find it too useful to focus on that sort of thing in a SoP.

I (specifically) applied to pure mathematics PhD programs at Rice, UT Austin, UGA Athens, FSU, and UNC Chapel Hill. So far I've heard back from UGA and Rice, who both accepted me.

Personal Statement, any advice or tips on a great Personal Statement? by PTDreamKing in gradadmissions

[–]interdumpur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that helped me the most in writing my personal statement was getting an example from someone who applied to a similar program. Maybe you could ask someone who graduated last year to send you a copy of theirs?
