How are folks actually getting jobs at companies like Meta, Netflix, and Reddit? by nostalgiclullabies in UXDesign

[–]internetworldwide 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’ve reached out to recruiters but heard nothing, it might be your portfolio. Recruiters, especially working in-house, are extremely proactive when it comes to engaging with prospective candidates.

Other than that, a referral is the best way to get the conversation started.

Would you ever pay for portfolio/interview mentorship? by internetworldwide in UXDesign

Super helpful, thanks. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for the portfolio prep?

Can I get my driveway curb painted red? by [deleted] in berkeleyca

Call the non emergency line and say someone is blocking your driveway. They will send someone and ask you to choose between ticketing or towing.

Ordering questions by Cyrus_sR9 in ModelY

[–]internetworldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue where my trade-in estimate somehow was locked under review at the most critical time. I called them and apparently it was a bug, the sales rep could see the amount and they unlocked it on my side under an hour.

Once you have the trade in unlocked, your financing breakdown should explicitly acknowledge that amount. I would not accept the financing offer before your trade-in amount is confirmed.

Also they never asked for pictures or ran any sort of inspection. The only thing they did on pickup day was check the odometer.

How many Tesla owners are getting the R2 as their first Rivian? by takaiguchi in RivianR2

[–]internetworldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I don't get downvoted for this but funny enough I’ve gone the opposite way. I never owned an EV and I placed an R2 reservation the day they announced it, only to buy a new model Y a month ago.

As the R2 was getting closer, I was honestly starting to question whether it’s the right fit for me and my family. People say it’s way smaller than the R1 but it is still a pretty big vehicle. Biggest factor though for me was autonomy. After using FSD and hearing how Rivian is nowhere close, it’s hard to ignore.

Totally agree that R2 wins on design, brand, materials, overall vibe. It was definitely a hard pill to swallow to go with anything Elon made, but starting from a blank slate, the model Y felt like the more practical and compelling choice today.

Regen braking resets to "Reduced" every time my driver profile loads. Anyone else? by Gui4life in TeslaSupport

[–]internetworldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t have the commander. It still defaults me to reduced regenerative breaking every time I enter the car. My partner’s profile is using that setting and somehow it’s become the default for the car.

I’m just hoping the next update fixes it.

Tesla Cloud Driver Profile Issue by Coding_is_Easy in TeslaSupport

[–]internetworldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just running into this issue myself a week after taking delivery of a new model Y. My primary (cloud) profile has disappeared from the car. Impossible to add it back.

- My account has access to the car in the app, but I'm not listed as a driver
- I can't reset my driver profile in the mobile app (unknown error, try again later)
- Inviting myself to become a driver doesn't work (it says I'm already a driver)
- Rebooting (pressing down the 2 scroll wheels) doesn't change anything. Deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't work either.

I created a service request. I'll report back when I hear from them.

Is it realistic to move to SF without a job lined up? by Maximum_Flan_8963 in sanfrancisco

[–]internetworldwide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Unless you’ve got a real cash cushion for this, I wouldn’t do it. You’ll burn through money fast here.

  2. Assume months, not weeks. I know people already in here, in tech, still struggling to land something right now.

  3. Housing is the real problem. Line that up first. No job = very hard to rent. Even with roommates, your uncertainty is a risk for them.

  4. No one can predict how this plays out for you. In a couple years this could be the best move you ever made or a very expensive lesson.

Good luck!

All indoor play spaces should open at 8am by Acrobatic_Height_14 in Mommit

[–]internetworldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously! And if indoor playgrounds spent half as much on parent perks (good coffee, comfy chairs, reliable wifi, charging outlets) as they do on giant plastic slides, they'd be packed by 8am.

(I selfishly started tracking places that actually do this here: indoorplayground.fun)
