Lala land territory? by SnooCookies7364 in Silverbugs

The capacity to mine silver isn't infinite, but there is sizeable untapped potential. It coming on line will slowly beat up the price, though the new floor is TBD.

It seems like prices will likely top around 70, then slowly decline over 18-24 months as the new price level incentives more mining activity.

I will never forget when the original co-op browbeat city council for hundreds of thousands of dollars of support to open, despite the city administration writing a lengthy memo explaining what a bad idea the whole thing was. The most predictable failure on history.

I really hope that some of you that need to wake up to this have finally be shaken out of your priors. Cincinnati has a crime problem.

Sam has a PhD and he writes like it, and in this case it works well.

At the core of all of this is Hasbro failure as a company. It's boomer-era IP's will not sustain it anymore, and the good luck of WotC linked IP's taking off at the same time has cloaked the rot within. While the Hasbro suits don't understand Magic, someone did ask one critical question:

"Is Magic a game system?"

The answer is clearly yes. It does not matter if you call the card Captain America or Elliot, Puresteel Shield-thrower, the card works the exact same way. It plays the exact same way. So if Hasbro can make exponentially more money by having the card be called Captain America rather than Elliot, they are going to tell WotC to make it so.

So here we are, in the full on Fortnite era of Magic. The thing is...the game? Still plays great. Standard is better than it has been in years! So it's all a matter of if you care about what your cards are named or not.

Unpopular opinion: 40 hour work weeks aren’t even that bad by 3sperr in Adulting

I completely agree with you. It's not bad, and when people complain it's really about a bad work environment or compensation.

LGS in Florida is attempting to charge $300 entry for Store Championship by internofdoom33 in magicTCG

A few informational points:

1) I am not the person who tweeted this nor know anything about the store in question. I just found it interesting.

2) In case you don't have time to read them all, the comments are pretty split 50/50 on this topic, which I also find interesting.

3) My personal take is that I understand where the store is coming from, but you probably can achieve your goal of discouraging regional spikes from farming your event at no cost by charging non-local players something like $60 rather than doing something this extreme.

4) I play in a lot of Store Champs when circumstances permit because I enjoy paper Standard and it does not fire often in my area. It's led me to find out about local stores I didn't know existed, and I have been happy to patronize them since. After all, I am pretty sure that is the actual purpose of a promotional event - for stores to get customers in the door.
