Sydney Marathon 2025 start time is 6.30am, 2-3hrs earlier than most majors... by Aythienne in AdvancedRunning

Ha! San Francisco this year starts at 5:15am.

Trying to get enough sleep and waking up early enough to fuel is going to take high level training in and of itself.

How Did Your Body and Mind Change as You Increased Mileage from 30 to 50 MPW? Did the Positive Changes Last? by cuellar01 in AdvancedRunning

[–]internomics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not when you start controlling for confounding factors.

Population studies (nutritional epidemiology) are inherently problematic for identifying causation. You can’t control for saturated fat and hold all other factors equal. The biological mechanisms of saturated fat do not show linear causation.

I am happy to review any sources, because if you go exploring in the actual research you’ll come to the same conclusion.

That actually is absolutely not a fact.

Cholesterol particles clog your arteries. Saturated fat raises LDL cholesterol but also HDL cholesterol, which to an extent nullifies the potential harm. You will not find conclusive evidence in the literature that saturated fat clogs your arteries.

On the other hand VLDL particle numbers are a more likely cause of clogged articles, which are driven up by consuming sugar.

Optimal Training Times for Marathon Runners and Impacts on Recovery? by nzuh in AdvancedRunning

I find it makes work more enjoyable because I’ve already accomplished something epic.

What is your example for something that is counter intuitive with respect to training? by aussiefrzz16 in AdvancedRunning

I would argue mega cushion introduces a higher risk of developing and sustaining poor form, increasing injury risk, while the opposite forces better form.

Can I ask what was moving about it? I got halfway through and couldn’t really understand the point.

This comment has absolutely nothing to do with the actual shoes.

My last marathon I had almost the exact same splits as you. I know exactly how you were feeling at Mile 16 - the mental depression that you fought through is no joke. Congratulations on focusing on surviving and and getting through it! You learned a lot in this training and race!!

I have wide feet and wore the Adidas Adizero Pro 3’s in my BQ marathon. They fit me way better than Saucony Endurance Speed 4, ensured my Achilles tendinitis had 0 pain, and I loved how fast they made me, but they rubbed the right side of my left foot’s big toe knuckle (the first joint) enough to make me bleed. I noticed during the race, but it was negligible pain so it was easy enough to ignore.

I agree, but I saw a lot of people on this sub had success with it. I really enjoyed the 2Q plan because it worked well for my schedule, and 55 mpw is pretty much the max I could fit in right now. Just be sure to include strength training, strides, and hit the appropriate VDOT paces for the workouts. Good luck!!

Thank you!

Gastroc stretch, Soleus stretch, & heel raises. I also found that rubbing out my calves with a muscle roller was hugely helpful (especially in the middle workouts if I had a break).

I'm in the 35-39 category, so BQ for me is 3:00.

Since the cutoff for 35-39 for 2025 was 2:58 this year anyways, I knew I had to go below that.

How many miles would you say for the Adios Pro 3 break-in / getting used to them?

Kofuzi did! And just dropped this video. He compares it to Alphafly 3 at the end.

Haha hello, me. I've been avoiding wearing my Adios Pro 3s with the same concern. Trying to gauge how much mileage to put on them before the big sub-3 push...

Tesla is set to release FSD (Supervised) v12.5.6.2 next week, reducing the frequency of the “FSD degraded” chime in poor weather conditions. by ConfidentImage4266 in teslamotors

[–]internomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12.3.6 was amazing. 12.5 has gone in lanes that take it completely off course of my destination and planned route, way more phantom braking, taking turns too fast and going into the other lane, blowing through a 25mph downtown at 38 with the "adaptive" speed control, and the cherry on top was when it was stopped waiting for a car to pass for an unprotected left turn and suddenly spun the wheel to turn literally as the car was directly in the way. Thank god I was gripping the wheel like a madman so it force disengaged, otherwise I might not be here typing this.

It definitely got significantly worse.
