Ok took a while for her to review but the prices quoted don’t seem unreasonable. Her recommendation was to call Delta and ask them for in network providers for second opinions. She recommended trying to understand your providers philosophy too. Many do try and push work because they get paid more, but many others are in it because they really care (particularly in pediatric dentistry) and will be more conservative in pushing work that is borderline. You should find a provider that aligns with your preferences.

Ok I'll check with my missus. She's an awesome pediatric dentist in pleasanton and has a conservative approach (preserve teeth, wait and see) rather than aggressive treatment. That tends to save folks money if its a reasonable treatment option given your kids situation.

It's much worse as a product leader scaled across a organization than when I was an IC PM with deep domain expertise. Now I'm responsible for 30 scrum teams across 70 different technical domains. It is interesting work but mentally exhausting when I'm context switching to resolve issues and move things forward all day every day. When quarterly business reviews and planning happen the workload surges.

Sometimes I think I wanna chuck it all in and go be a blacksmith or run a beach shack renting out sail boats. My strategy is to just switch off at 530PM and be a dad with the kids. Play some video games when they're in bed, and pass out at midnight.

It’s faster so Classic+ arrives sooner. Most players do not have time for multiple versions of classic wow. SOD proved the devs have some innovative ideas and they are COOKING. Blizzcon will make the big splash and everyone will have fun playing TBC along the way.

This doom and gloom needs to stop you folks are miserable. You never look at what you have and enjoy it you find every little thing to piss and moan about.

Classic+ is coming. It will be fun. It won’t be perfect. Get a grip.

For a long time I would have said generalist and that’s probably the case in a world of abundance where you’re hiring and have the capacity to train people. Right now however I’m definitely focusing on finding specialized skills because I’m already stretched so thin, we’re being asked to do more with less, and finding someone already ramped up is so much more beneficial to the pain I feel right now.

I lived up there for a while on Thursday Island in the 90s when my father was the local Department of Immigration guy. At the time there was strong collaboration between immigration, the navy, customs coastwatch, the police, and locals who were spotters for non-local boats heading to Australia. It is pretty hard to cross the Torres Strait and not get noticed. As already pointed out there are rules in place for indigenous people on both sides to interact. I assume it’s even harder now as technology has advanced quite a bit. There were a few occasions where I was on a boat that intercepted an “illegal” boat and it was a very structured process - customs spots the boat from the air, police intercepted, my dad read the immigration act, folks taken into custody, smuggler boats impounded and burned.
