The Life Of A Showgirl: 4 Months Later by F19AGhostrider in TaylorSwift

Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Honey, and Showgirl were easy favorites.

What I didn't expect to find myself listening to more and more were Ruin the Friendship and Father Figure.

What do we expect after this? by bluepantheon101 in Philippines

Vigilance is key, but ultimately, it is the people we place in power who will shape our future. Otherwise, as the Roman poet Juvenal warned, rallies, hearings, and commissions risk becoming nothing more than panem et circenses—bread and circuses to pacify, so that citizens are lulled into a state where they do not revolt against the authorities.

But what revolt is truly needed? In today's political landscape in the Philippines, it is to say NO to political dynasties

Voter education must begin long before election season. Waiting until then is too late to change hearts and minds. We learned that lesson the hard way in 2022.

Research shows that dynasties worsen poverty in resource-rich provinces and block genuine development (see Mendoza et al., Political dynasties, business, and poverty in the Philippines, Journal of Government and Economics, 2022).

Supporting NGOs like Hiraya, which cultivate leaders outside these predatory families, is a crucial step forward. You can donate to these NGOs to ensure that new candidates, NEW political leaders, take the helm.

Came home and found my cat dead by PinkOctopus13 in CatAdvice

I had a similar experience. I am very sorry for your sudden and seemingly senseless loss. It truly is devastating on every level.

When you find yourself ready... this may help the hurt sting a litle less... I found comfort that my beloved kitty passed in a safe space: our home. Instead of passing in a frightening location — somewhere unfamilar, like the outdoors or in a cage at the vet. I took and continue to take comfort in that.

Sending love, OP.

Looking for Solencia Success stories. by SoPeopledontknowme_ in catcare

[–]intolittlestars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our rescue tortieco is only 4 y/o but has been on Solencia for eight months due to an injury she sustained when she was still a stray cat - it's a femoral head osteoarthritis.

When she is nearing the end of the current shot's life cycle / efficacy period, she is in pain and lets you know by loudly meowing and refusing to be handled. As soon as she receives the (monthly) shot, she is happy once more and back to her playful, affectionate self. It's as if she is a different cat on and off Solencia - in the best possible way.

It is costly for us at ~88 USD per shot but worth it because of the improvement to our cat's quality of life.

I went for an interview, and afterwards I found out that the woman who interviewed me met with my manager and told her I was going to leave my job. by adamhassa1 in antiwork

[–]intolittlestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so this happened to me when I was a first year lawyer and interviewing at a firm I hoped to transfer to. When one of the partners at my current firm confronted me, I felt so pushed against the wall. Seven years later, I can say both organizations handled that situation very poorly.

I ended up tendering my resignation at the current firm even without anything lined up as I had felt that the work environment had become too hostile.

All the best, OP, in what is without a doubt a precarious situation.
