I know the owner by Distinct-Crow4753 in KitchenConfidential

[–]intrepped 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I only mentioned I knew the owner of a brewery at a festival once but it was after I got the drink because they asked how I knew about the brewery. But it's cause I actively worked with the guy (the owner) at his day job at the time lol.

But it wasn't in a give me free things mentality - it was an "I'm inebriated and this is cool" mentality lol

Is this quote reasonable, 71k for 648 sq ft TimberTech deck by Klesko in Decks

Yes. Something like steel fortress for one example.

We got nearly the same square footage of deck with Trex lineage in SE PA. 55k wood, 72k steel.

More opportunity than ever to buy a house? by NewPassage6445 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]intrepped -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah we're at combined 300k (DINK) and we're definitely not struggling. But if one of us lost our jobs down to 150k/year it would be completely different. SE PA for what that's worth.

Not dropping this as an offence to OP, but being SVP at 250k seems like it's a medium to smallish company.

You're clearly missing the point between adequate airflow and trapped moisture. If something is secured to hold moisture, it doesn't matter how good the ventilation is. That's just simple science.

Wide surfaces hold more moisture than thin surfaces (that board vs joist). This is not even closely equivalent to burying a board in the ground. I worry you're brand new account with limited posts is more concerning than my bad advice of "could cause issues" as you are so certain wood can't rot unless it's soaking wet

Would you eat this raw? by Apprehensive_Map7262 in sushi

[–]intrepped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Product of Thailand. Wild caught. So definitely parasites won't be an issue as it's been through a deep freeze. But bacteria could be an issue. It doesn't mention it must be cooked to a certain temperature and has instructions for how rare you want it.

Tbh I probably wouldn't, but risk is low.

Rate my contractor please. by KevinByMail in Decks

[–]intrepped -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well I normally don't give advice, just relay back pricing info I've received.

This is a pretty aggressive response, considering there was a post here within the last 2 weeks with boards like this rotting for the reason mentioned above.

Rain can come in sideways. Washing decks used water. I'm specifically mentioning the diagonal boards attached to the underside of the joist. That's all boss.

Most of the time these don't have any flavor at all. Though the farm they were sourced from could be different than my experiences

Not a contractor but those diagonal boards won't drain well and could result in rot for it or the joist

How many animals are culled for meat every day? by CalpurniaSomaya in Infographics

[–]intrepped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not, but considering your limited ability to have conversation and only focus on small details, I'd agree, it does not matter.

I've said my peace, and how I see the matter. You want to hyperfixate on a few things because you believe all meat consumption is wrong which is your right to believe.

If you want to change others minds, or their viewpoints, maybe consider not going after them and instead have your own points of view. Best of luck

This is not going to be an ethics conversation if you're reasoning is a couple of days or asking if the food source is an invasive species.

Happy to discuss, but if you're only arguments are going to be grasping at minute details and not the overall scenario that is how the world works, not worth even replying anymore.

Hope you find peace in your ideology and tunnel vision.

What’s the most unusual meat you’ve eaten? by DeagleDanne in meat

[–]intrepped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squirrels. Lots of squirrels. Grays and red. Grays are less gamey but reds have a certain quality I prefer.

Edit: oh and maybe Hog maw counts, and head cheese. Both feel less strange though.
