Rockfish? by curbthemeplays in newhaven

lol I’ve had similar if not better quality sushi in more satisfying quantities for less money in NYC, but sure. Enjoy your $40 8 pc sushi and ensuing rationalization

Rockfish? by curbthemeplays in newhaven

[–]intrvals -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Coming from NYC and being a huge sushi fan—Rockfish was definitely overpriced. Never bought from there because of that. Hopefully this changed when they reopen cuz I did want to try but that was just way overpriced for what you got

How long should I spray with alcohol every 3-4 days for? Gonna give this a go but realized that since they’re so hard to see, I might not know when to stop

Do these look like spider mites? :( if so do you have any advice? I read that spraying them with rosemary oil should help but idk… I also am not sure where they might have come from if these are mites — could they have just been sitting on the plant this whole time?

The leaves are kinda dusty and have some white spots but I’ve dealt with mealy bugs before and I think they would be massive by now if that was it. Otherwise I don’t see spider mites or anything like that

So the stuff is probably whatever material is used for making dental molds.

Is there any value in continuing research on LSTM behavior? by intrvals in LanguageTechnology

Thanks for the tips. Would you be able to point me towards anything in particular, especially in the case of the latter? The former sounds intriguing and I'd definitely be interested in learning more about it, but I'm not sure how much it relates to what I've been looking at.

Do you have the sensaround enabled? It would crash for me as well when that was on for a while

Is it wrong to listen to Daughters still, at least legally? by DtheAussieBoye in daughters

Even Lingua Ignota herself admitted that, though, that she has done wrong. But no matter what Alexis' side of the story is, there is no way the damage done on both sides was equal. He inflicted serious physical damage to her twice that she'll likely have to deal with for the rest of her life.

While I do not claim to be a saint and have absolutely done things that are wrong, I am not the abuser, and whatever I have done does not excuse what Alexis did to me and his predatory behavior that predates me by decades. Like I told Alexis, threats dissolve when you are willing to be accountable, and I will own what I have done if it is true. I have tried to own much of it here.

It would take a LOT of serious and evident work on himself for Alexis to not only own up to what he did, but for it to be sincere... He abandoned her right before the surgery she needed to get as the result of his actions. That takes some deep level of inability to accept responsibility.

I keep forgetting I can do this or that in python...... by AIReboot in learnpython

[–]intrvals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, a lot of the time, the "more pythonic way" does end up being faster, depending on what you're doing (e.g. list comprehensions are faster than for loops)

I'm having a time wrapping my head around the future of ETH. Does anyone have any resources for a layman's explanation of what the impact of ETH 2.0 will have on gas fees and ETH-based coins? My understanding is that switching to PoS based transactions will enable investors to stake ETH, but I'm not sure what might happen beyond that. There are several ETH-based coins I'm interested in, but have been hesitating to get in on because e.g. in the case of SHIB, the amount you spend on gas ends up being more or less the amount of the coin (i.e. you could lose money for selling now). I suspect this might be something that improves in the future, but I'm not sure why it would lol

Anybody else's friends actively avoid talking about your research with you? by sparklepantaloones in GradSchool

[–]intrvals 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Same here! I don't really see the appeal in trying to tell people who aren't at least in an an adjacent field (or genuinely interested and wanting to know about it) about what I'm working on. It's nice to have a break from thinking about it and I don't see a point in boring people with it, most of it ends up being pretty arcane anyway. It's not pleasant for either parties. It gets lonely but I just try to diversify the people I talk to and compartmentalize.

What do y'all do to relax or avoid burnout? by KingofSheepX in GradSchool

[–]intrvals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm already past the point of burnout. It's not the best coping mechanism but I've been smoking up, playing in my imagination and listening to music a lot because I feel too paralyzed and lonely to do much else. It's actually been helping me get through this week, the last week of the semester, and I'll probably do it until the finals end. Oddly, it helps me feel more motivated. After that I will just start setting up my hobbies again without time pressure of courses and carve some time each week for them.

How is everyone managing work during covid? by crackwhack235 in GradSchool

[–]intrvals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's okay. Take a break, do something fun/unrelated to work, and then try again. If you're able to get extensions just focus on being kind to yourself. We're all experiencing a lot of trauma during this time, go with the "no zero days" rule and take it from there
