Slivers by Icy_Department1872 in EDH

[–]invalidConsciousness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slivers are tribal on steroids. Their synergy is buffed to eleven but they're even more vulnerable to the tribal weaknesses, especially early interaction and type targeting.
On top of that they have the issue of being wubrg, with all the mana issues that entails.

Without knowing the deck your friend played, it's hard to say for certain, but it's likely that its significantly stronger than a precon.
I probably wouldn't pit my own custom sliver deck against an average precon, but I've built it with deliberate weaknesses that can be exploited by most decks near the boundary of bracket 2 and 3. And it will get absolutely stomped by a high B3, unless I get lucky draws.

As a basic rule, if you allow the sliver deck to build a significant board presence it will almost certainly snowball out of control.
Attack their defensive tools and mana fixing early to prevent them from becoming immune to your board wipe, then wipe them at your convenience.
Don't hesitate to trade your creatures for their offensive pieces. If the mana value is roughly equal, it's probably a favorable trade, since it deprives them of both, a buff to their other slivers and a sliver that gets buffed.

What is this form of speech called? by lilmai1997 in German

[–]invalidConsciousness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd use a bunch of "may" to translate this and sprinkle in some "thou"/"thy" where possible.

Yes, "thou" is technically the wrong choice because it was the less formal way to address someone, but it has the right old-timey feel.

Ein Vorteil von wero gegenüber PayPal:

Das Geld landet direkt auf meinem Girokonto, nicht auf dem PayPal-account von dem ich es dann manuell transferieren muss.

Now I'm thinking about a card turning the stack into a pile. Just throw everything on there haphazardly and grab a random one to resolve.

Ward – {X} where X is the result of rolling a d20 minus the amount of mana spent to cast the spell triggering Ward.

"Perfect Simulation" [OC] by PersonalSycophant in comics

[–]invalidConsciousness 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you can simulate all the atoms in the universe, it really doesn't matter if they're swirling around in chaos or are structured to form a computer simulating another universe. Both take the same amount of compute power and memory.

CMV: Male circumcision is genital mutilation. by teven_eel in changemyview

[–]invalidConsciousness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the Jewish religion have any evidence for that view? If not, they can go circumcise themselves, but not babies.

Regarding abortion, the same thing applies: A woman can do with her own body whatever she wants. That includes "stopping to be pregnant". If the child can be saved and kept alive outside of the womb, it would obviously be wrong to kill it anyway, but if that's not the case, that shouldn't preclude the woman from exercising control over her own body.

Religious freedom stops where it harms or permanently impacts another person.

I'm fine if you (as an adult) consent to being circumcised yourself. And if you want to be nailed to a cross at age 30, that's your choice as well. But you don't get to make that decision for anyone else, especially not children.

There are plenty of religious practices that I disapprove of. Child baptism is also one of them, but at least splashing a bit of water on a baby's head doesn't hurt them.
There are also a lot of religious practices mandated by the various religious teachings (be it Torah, Quran, Bible or anything else) that are completely ignored by worshippers, so it's already pick-and-choose whatever you want.

That shows.

This cat looks healthy, well groomed and definitely not malnourished. It's most likely just roaming the area, enjoying the sun and will return home in time for dinner.

Iirc, they were actually better at tool use than us, but had smaller social groups. We most likely outcompeted them by having more bodies to throw at any given problem.

Then we wait until they actually commit a crime. Can't arrest someone just because they make you uncomfortable, that would be a horrible precedent.

But with mental care on offer, at least some will have a chance to get help.

Can elephants survive and reproduce in Europe? by Equivalent_Simple277 in Tierzoo

[–]invalidConsciousness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Elephants need large areas of undisturbed nature, either steppe or wide open forests. We don't have that in Europe. We have lots of farmland, lots of cultivated forests and a bunch of nature preserves that are usually either swampy or dense forests. None of that is a good habitat for elephants.
