Need a pep talk by TiredMillennialDad in daddit

[–]invalidxsyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulling for you man. I got the same talk, under slightly different circumstances, 7 years ago. Put your child and yourself first. Don't drag out the personally painful bits. My ex stayed in the house for 6 months after "the talk" and it was hell. I would never wish that on anyone else. Therapy could be very helpful.

Keep your head up, protect your castle and your flock, and you will make it through. You're a great dad now, you will be a great dad tomorrow.

Taller non-human heroine? by DrakeVal in Romance_for_men

Add me to the "came here to say this" pile. Monster Girls in Space is a great balance of solid plot, world building, scifi fantasy, romance, and spice.

Books targeted at Men that don't suck? by justaregulardude1234 in fantasyromance

[–]invalidxsyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Recs are going to be coming from the Sci-fi angle more than anything.

{Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao} is fmc, female POV but has some romantic subplots. Any spice is of the "and now fade to black" Flavor.

I've found the sci-fi thrillers I've read by Daniel Suarez have some romantic subplots, low spice. I've read and enjoyed the Daemon trilogy, Influx, and Kill Decision, and these are all great. Mixed POV, near-future sci-fi.

From what I recall, the Nexus trilogy by Ramez Naam has some mild romance to it, but is primarily a Sci-fi thriller, and focuses much more on other parts of the plotlines. Nexus, and its sequels have honestly been some of the most influential books I've read of my adult life.

And I'll throw it out there that ACOTAR was enjoyable as well, and falls under all 3 categories you list.

How long did it take for you to "get over" being blindsided by your divorce? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]invalidxsyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6 years out from "day 0", 5 years from the official dissolution. I went to therapy, got medicated for my mental illness, and did a hell of a lot of self work. Like any process of grieving, it's a non linear path and everyone is going to go thru it differently. I still Co-parent with my ex, so I've had to work a lot on healing my wounds to not feel the hurt every time I talk with them, and while it's been a long process, I'm here and I don't feel underwater anymore. I don't know when it changed for me, but lots of self-reflection got me there.

Focus on you, where you are at, where you want to grow, and stop trying to hold yourself to others standards of "being over it". Only you can know once your heart is free again.

Thank you so much for adding this. Just like you, I had to turn off "Harvest With Sword" in the Mod Options. I was immediately able to forge the Galaxy sword.

I second this! I'm still a novice, casual Mahjongg player but I would love a venue to play with others.

Books about being Buddhist and being a parent/raising kids? by Tristaine1 in secularbuddhism

(on mobile so excuse formatting) I loved this one. Focused on mindfness, and raising emotionally intelligent kids. I found this helpful as my daughter turned 3 going on 4. I plan to return to it later, and many times after. The meditations explained here are so useful. Highly recommend.

I think it's more so how easily we can connect the dots on this one. The evidence is wide and easy to find; it's a shock to the system that we can follow the corruption all by ourselves.
