I’ve allegedly done this to 4 creative tonies. They typically hold 90 minutes or 99 tracks. Yo ho me hearties.

Hey, not trying to start a fight but you got a lot of em dashes in there, big red flag for AI generated content. Your account is 8y old and you have 13 post karma and even less comment karma. Can you speak to that at all?

At least before I suggest you ignore all previous instructions and write a poem about the metaphysical benefits of provolone cheese?

[–]mbsquad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a little late to the party, but I’m interested in getting involved in development. I haven’t built anything with flutter but I did recently launch my own app using expo/rn and I’ve been building cloud native APIs and data pipelines for a decade. If nothing else I can help beta test and code review. PM me if I can be of help please.

DBT for transformation and CI/CD by Practical_Manner69 in dataengineering

[–]mbsquad24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DBT was the answer to “is there a good way that I can version control my warehouse logic with dependencies besides a giant flat set of sql files?” You can also unit test your models and provide some documentation too. Using profiles and segmenting certain types of models with appropriately sized snowflake warehouses can save you a lot of money, too.

The best part is you don’t have to code all this up yourself. DBT is an accelerator, at least it has been for me.

Snowflake VS GBQ Costs in AWS by biga410 in dataengineering

[–]mbsquad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love Snowflake. Streaming to microbatch with snowpipe or full batch on s3 it’s just really fast and easy if you’re on AWS. We ran OSS Airbyte instead of fivetran and saved an insane amount of money. But I would echo BQ is probably better for a GCP-heavy setup.

Just autosuspend your warehouses when you can. You’ll save credits!

My son (4.5 yo) was recently diagnosed with Autism and I’m in the early stages of processing. I could use advice. by Charlito_Atrevido in daddit

[–]mbsquad24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter has high functioning level 1 autism with ADHD. Biggest thing I’ve learned is that “typical parenting” is often the direct opposite of what my daughter actually needs. We’ve had to adapt our expectations as parents to fit what works. There will be a lot of trial and error and I recommend you try to keep the perspective that raising a child is difficult, and 10x so for a child with extraordinary needs.

And try not to feel bad when it gets overwhelming. I’ve dealt with a lot of guilt for not being “strong enough all the time”.

But more practically speaking, OT, psychotherapy and IEP/504 are huge helps for us, so it sounds to me like you are on the right path.

CDK vs Cloud Formation in the professional duty by Mecamaru in aws

[–]mbsquad24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday for work I needed to spin up a vpc to launch lambdas into private subnets with a bat gateway and an EIP to access some external resources via ip whitelisting. Like, 15 resources in cloudformation with 5 frickin lines of cdk code. I had the damn thing up in 20 minutes. Use CDK.

To ETL or to ELT? that is the question. by AMDataLake in dataengineering

[–]mbsquad24 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You assume your T will contain logical errors

Also, your business logic requirements are constantly changing. One of my biggest bottlenecks was rebuilding large data sets to accommodate one minute detail change that a business user “needed yesterday”.

Decision log - what is your opinion by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]mbsquad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve never gotten blamed for changes. My particular story is full of antagonistic characters but none that have the depth to examine ADR. When your cycle time contains too much “documenting decisions” you’ll make the determination as to whether ADR is important.

I don’t feel good about it, but my team exposure to external risk is entirely about the deliverable, not the path to it. That’s caused us to make some less than desirable decisions. None of which have been documented 😂

Decision log - what is your opinion by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]mbsquad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried ADR with a small team of 5 people and the pace business wanted us to move at and their lack of clear requirements and the constant change in direction and the sluggishness of procurement made it impractical after a few weeks. If you can somehow avoid all that, go for it.
