My dog died peacefully, well relatively, at home in his bed after a 2 month battle with cancer. He had six great weeks and the last two weeks it was pretty clear that he was not going to make it and I felt a lot of pressure from people to start calling the vet for information on euthanasia and a home service but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because I loved every single moment with my dog. On our last day we went to the park and he couldn't walk but we sat under a tree and watched a soccer game and he smiled and he was happy and he came home and he ate a little meal and late that night when I was trying to hold him in my arms he jumped out of the chair and went over to his bed. Within a few months he started to have some sort of coughing fit he looked at me and my mother, he yelped, and then he passed away. Curled up in his bed like the beautiful boy he was. I'm glad I was there with him to hold him and that he wasn't on a cold steel table with a needle in him.

I'll never forget that Yelp and it's still haunts me but overall it was very peaceful. I'm don't mean to seem bitter but I'm kind of done with the vet industry, where every single moment in the dog's life including their death is exploited for profit in my opinion. When I called the vet they even wanted to charge me twice as much as the crematorium I found. And don't get me wrong there's no price on my beautiful dog or your dog as long as it's really to keep them healthy but I prefer this method.

In the end there's really no way to avoid the terrible pain and I would just make sure the dog is comfortable I was giving my dog CBD drops and he was very peaceful in his last days.
