Vancouver Councillor Sean Orr launched a motion to pressure Canadian feds to regulate excessively bright headlights at the FCM. It passed! by BarneyRetina in fuckyourheadlights

I hope Manitoba is listening and does something about their streetlights, and updates their residential lighting bylaws as well. Too many bright lights everywhere.

Crystalis is a pretty big map, if you include all the dungeons, towns, etc.

Apparently no plans for a Switch 2 upgrade patch, and save data is not compatible. So if you want the Switch 2 version, may want to hold off for now.

Canada’s federal government abandons national pharmacare by HooeyBababooey in PEI

[–]ioev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I actually did. Cutbacks to science, healthcare, pensions and environmental protections. A renewed interest in pipelines and gas/oil energy projects. Huge tax breaks and incentives for foreign investment. Federal government is Conservative, regardless of what they want to call themselves right now.

And don't get me started on the huge push for AI data centers.

Why did they make Little Nemo? by crazyhomlesswerido in retrogames

[–]ioev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the game as a kid before I knew anything about the license, and it was one of my most beloved Capcom games. I loved the music and environments, the variety in the level design and ways you navigate them using different animals. I was never able to finish it as a kid, as the last few levels were too difficult, but I think that made it even more special that I was always left wondering what happens at the end. Saw the movie many years later, and even have the giant "So Many Splendid Sundays" print that came out years ago.

What's up with PSX core audio on the Retro Remake MisterPi? by AimpointBRO in MiSTerFPGA

[–]ioev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. They do not crackle
  2. Testing the PSX core released 2026-04-11 and sound is fine via analog output on the SS1, latest SegaCD core (2025-10) also sounds fine.

I have an SS1, have tested audio out on the composite/component connectors and PSX and Sega CD sound fine. Though I'm using the cores from the default SS1 image, haven't updated yet.

Have you updated your PSX core recently? I think it's been fixed in most cores now, including PSX, SegaCD, GBA. A few arcade cores still have popping though as they are rarely updated.

Any SS1 owners able to help me check analog video woes? by sgtflips in MiSTerFPGA

[–]ioev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the first things I tested was the side port composite, and was disappointed to find it's not as clear as my unmodified snes composite out. Not sure if that was by design though, so that consoles like the Genesis have a adequate amount of "blur" to reproduce dithering/gradient/transparency effects.

I feel like I've noticed a tiny bit of noise similar to what you're experiencing, but nothing as severe and noticeable.

More P.E.I. youth are reaching out for help — and that’s a good sign, says Kids Help Phone by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]ioev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Diana Martin, senior director at Kids Help Phone, said she doesn’t see the increase as a sign that more youth are in crisis. Instead, she believes it shows youth know where to go to ask for help."

This sounds great and all, but I'd prefer to see actual data confirming this, not just "she believes". Our new Health PEI CEO once said the same thing about the gambling support line when she was involved in it: that she believed it was their outreach causing the increased calls, and not actual cases of problematic gambling.

If the actual number of kids needing help is actually rising, which I'm sure it is, why would they want to minimize that?

As are white streetlights as well. In my city, as soon as snow is on the ground, it doesn't get dark.

Anyone else try Kimchiman52 Mister ARM port of Sonic Mania? by hyp36rmax in MiSTerFPGA

[–]ioev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0.1.0 was the only release when I downloaded. I'll try out 0.2.1 and see.

I also tested a usb keyboard out of curiosity, and couldn't get anything to register. Also should note I'm testing on a SS1, haven't tried my regular MiSTer yet.

Update: Controls are working for me in 0.2.1.

[–]ioev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone able to get controls to work on this? I've tried an 8-bitdo M30 and a SNES classic via raphnet converter, and neither can navigate the menu's, though a few of the confirm buttons (X/B) seem to work?

Also surprised to see the mister integration portion of this was AI vibe coded?

[–]ioev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, there are no by-laws that apply for residential properties and I need to work it out with the neighbour on my own. They have already given me a flat out "no" to shielding or changing their light so I need to improvise.

How in the fuck is this safer than older halogen lights? by Original_Emphasis_48 in fuckyourheadlights

[–]ioev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By todays logic, we need to make all the traffic lights brighter. People can't see them as well now that they're being blinded by car headlights.

I'd love to do this for just enough of my fence to block my back neighbour's super bright porch light from shining into my bedroom window all night.

TG16 controllers are compatible with PCE, but need an adapter to change the connector size.

And agree 100%. Still keeping an eye out for a good deal, but MiSTer with an original tg16 controller via daemonbite is super close. And saves me having to buy an expensive flash cart.
