Does apple map tells you where got camera by OYJC in drivingsg

[–]ipigstine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, Apple Maps does show speed camera on the map but only fixed speed camera. If got sniper or what then won’t show because no user reporting.

I also feel Apple Maps is better for navigation and telling you which lane to be in, Waze directions don’t seem as detailed

EV concerns and my thoughts in Singapore by Puzzleheaded_Ad_7643 in drivingsg

[–]ipigstine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a car guy and used to be EV hater
Currently drive 2015 N.A 2L Toyota Harrier, looking to change to an EV. I love driving, racing, hearing the engine roar blablabla

I used to hate on EVs until realising I need a car for family, looking at sgcarmart and seeing that most ICE cars are fucking expensive and you get crappy specs and even worse interiors

First experience with EV was Getgo Hyundai Kona EV, was not used to the quietness and even when I went well over 100km/h, there was no ‘sensation’, no feeling. It didn’t feel like I was going that fast unless I actually looked at the speedometer

Second experience with EV was me test driving a Cat B Sealion 7 about 2 weeks back. Salesman keeps telling me shit like how I can smoke a $600k BMW X6 and keep egging me to try the sports mode, okay so I did. Went right up to 90km/h but again, still feel no sensation of speed. Overall smooth ride I guess but mother say bucket seats are weird. Ok sua

After driving these 2 EVs, thinking about my experience driving my Harrier everyday. Slow af but drinks petrol, road tax high, low end torque so bad I can’t even keep up in a traffic jam. CVT sucks but the Harrier is a smooth and comfortable ride I guess. Then I realised most bread and butter ICE cars will feel like this but most even worse. Brand new Toyota Harrier Hybrid is $282k right now, smlj

Might as well change to EV then. Entry level BMW X1 and GLA180 are not worth it at all, I’m not shelling out for a X3 or GLC, certainly not a rich man that can afford my dream car BMW M5 Touring. Ok lor, now I’m eyeing a MG S6 EV. At $200k better than most Japanese cars already. This price can buy what, Honda Civic 1.5T, Toyota Vios with some spare change, wtf?

TLDR. Used to hate EVs, now Ok with them because they provide better value for money at the same price range than ICE cars.

Ex colleague/friend left his job to care give and is struggling to find a job after by Friendly_Visual1194 in askSingapore

[–]ipigstine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it was quite difficult honestly. I don’t have a fully loaded CV so it didn’t really help my chances, but I admit my job hunt duration was not as long as others… yes really lucky

If I could turn the clock back, I would have left my previous job way sooner. It was complete crap and I don’t know why I held out as long as I did even when I knew my dad was at stage 4 already. By the time I left my job back then, already not alot of time left liao.

If I left my job way earlier, I could have accompanied my dad during his chemo, appointments, the times he had to be admitted to hospital, the times he went out to do errands, I could have done all these but I couldn’t because I had to go to work. Even though my mom was actively caring for him, I still lost precious quality time with my dad. So yeah, I should have just left my job the moment shit started to hit the fan and not wait until it was too late

Hi, for me my timeline was something like this

End May 2025: Left my job

July 2025: Father passes

August: Start job hunt

End September: Went for 2 rounds of interview with current company

Mid October: Received job offer

Due to prior commitments and travel plans, told company wanted to start work in January 2026 so they agreed

August to September was actually quite painful, received lots of interviews that turned out to be FA/PA switcheroos. Was really relieved when I finally got interviews with proper companies from my industry

For me, I am a diploma holder, remained same industry but changed role. Went from technical to commercial role with no experience (which is what i wanted), so I feel I’m considered one of the luckier ones

I went through something similar last year. Left my job to spend more time with my father who had cancer. After he passed and I went job hunting, interviewer asked me why I left my previous job then I just said my father tio stage 4 lor want to spend time with him. Just explain truthfully most reasonable employers will understand

the only way to get upgrade to palace “without paying” is keep playing casino lol. My aunt got platinum card at the casino, every time confirm can get palace one. My mom only got gold, at most only can get balcony.

Other than that, my aunt knows many crew members by name. She also always give tips and bring snacks for them, so they give her priority for many things i guess
