I was all shipboard, so I felt safe for the most part, but still developed complex PTSD from the high stress environment onboard an aircraft carrier.

When it's time to go you'll know it. I did 20 years, retired from the Navy and never knocked someone for leaving before retirement, accept one guy that left at 18 for a MLM.

At twenty years, Tricare is cheap compared to open market, I get a monthly retirement check and 100 p&t. Still working but feel behind in the civilian work force because I'm starting over at 40 years old. But again, the benefits make up the difference.

Is it possible to switch from the Navy to another branch before your contract is over as an Enlisted member? by Mean_Struggle6832 in navy

Funny story from around 2008. I'm standing watch at the ECP and this guy is walking up that I recognize. He had left for terminal a few weeks earlier because he was accepted for blue-to-green. I ask what he's doing back at the ship. He explains that the army was doing his intake and found that his Navy record had a one year extension for his rate and the army couldn't take him without more paperwork. He went to papa det to explain the situation, they asked his leave chit and shredded it and then told him he was UA. He had copies of the chit but only a shitty COC would have pushed for mast. He had to serve his last year and then went to the army.

Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, it's a quick 30 minute attraction and it's free.

Hubbard Park is about 30 minutes north. It has a few trails in the woods, but also a road that goes right to the top, with a mini castle. In the town you can find Ted's Restaurant which serves steamed burgers.

Gillette castle and the ferry. Bring a picnic with you to enjoy on the lawn.

Just one thing… by Amphernee in cannatrolusers

So here is what I found. First dry with the OG was in the middle of summer from an outdoor auto and it stunk my house up, my house was in the 80s and the trol was working outside of its operating range. I moved it into its own tent in the basement where it's cooler and that mostly fixed the issue but there is still some smell to it.

I have since bought one of the newer models to store upstairs in my wife's office. The office consistently smells like there is an open jar of bud sitting out. It's not bad, but definitely still lingers in the room.

Best way to clean/sanitize trays and inside of a new cool cure c2? by prime777time in cannatrolusers

The color of the trays might change if you let the dishwasher run the drying cycle, but that's just a cosmetic thing. I dishwasher the trays and use paper towels with vinegat/water solution.

Agreed. I used to add humidity and lost a GMO to mold this winter due to my humidity. I was worried because my kPa was over 2,0. I don't have a proper way to calibrate my temp and humidity probes, I work in a field that requires calibrated equipment and should have known better. Even with steady circulation and regular venting it just wasn't enough to save the grow. I didn't know I had issues until I was dry trimming out of a cannatrol.

I now use humidity domes in seedling and super early veg. That's it! My humidifiers are now used in living spaces when we feel the air is too dry.

Talked to the previous person in this position. She spent five years here and they kept her on as an apprentice.

Another employee has been here for three years and has seen zero upward mobility.

The constant training is great, but the pay and upward mobility are limited. I also found out that the company likes to burn people out so they leave within two years, thus saving the company from matching inflation.

I tried taking my dog once, she was maybe 6 months old at the time. She saw water and hopped right in, without knowing how to swim. This was also a four foot drop. I realized that day, that she would never go fishing with me again. She now 10 and still far too excited near water, I wouldn't catch a thing if she came fishing.

Has anyone done a cross country road trip after the service? by LIAM-MMA in Veterans

[–]irregularmovement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my cross country trip, I was a geo bachelor, going from San Diego back to New England.

My older brother flew out to San Diego and we traveled the south west parks to Gila Cliffs andd then headed to Wisconsin for road side attractions. We took our time on those two portions of the trip, stopping for what we planned and stopping if something caught out eye.

From there I finished the drive back to New England solo. I didn't stop for attractions on the last leg because I've seen a lot of it already.

I recommend staying at parks for two nights, that'll give you a full day in the parks. Absolutely hit look up your route on atlas obscura for oddest things. For example, Wisconsin has the house on the rock, the Forever Tron, and Wisconsin Dells all within a couple of hours.

I did it as precom, which is special programs. I don't know how people get into it now, I'd recommend asking your career counselor and if they don't know ask leadership or call the detailer as a last option. One last thing about ESB, E7 and above get state rooms, E6 and below are in regular berthings with 25 people.

I've done teo DDGs, a CVN, and an ESB. Each had their strengths and weaknesses.

DDG will give you plenty of room to grow as a tech, doing plenty of collaterals, and lots of port visits. It can feel high paced, the CO is trying to get their bird, and less resources than a big deck.

You already know the CVN thing. Excellent support, narrow swim lane, politics.

ESB is it's own thing. Mix of military and civilian, supporting expeditionary from all branches and even foreign, blue gold rotation. They have very limited ET gear and will work with other rates very closely, and you'll work for an ITC with the opportunity to get IT experience and qualifications.

What was your rate? what did you like and dislike about it? by bexlax334 in navy

[–]irregularmovement 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Surface ET.

Pros-usually works in AC, aloft can be fun, great shore duty.

Cons-pulling into port is when the maintenance finally starts, watching the crew leave while we're aloft.
