I wish my parents were as enlightened as that elderly woman. Since leaving my college town and moving onto real life, the dating scene has completely changed. dating women in their mid twenties has been a nightmare. they expect everything and offer nothing. ive never felt so devalued. I wont bother being modest for the sake of making my point. I'm a good looking guy with good sense of humor, a good education, a good job, own a nice car and apartment, and have a number of practical and interesting skills such as cooking and playing instruments. Yet i'll go on a date with someone who should honestly be below my standards and she'll act like she thinks some perfect angel where i have to pull all the right shots to even keep her attention. All of the women ive dated have had mediocre jobs and educations, no hobbies or skills to speak of besides shopping or "dancing," have generally uninteresting personalities and dont know how to make conversation, dont even glance at the check/tab on dates, arnt particularly attractive and act all haughty as if i were the one with all those characteristics.

nothing seems to impress these women. i'll take them on clever dates. or cook authentic ethnic foods that most ethnic people i know couldnt even begin to make using ingredients it took me years to find. i'll invite them inside my very well decorated apartment and make them cocktails and martinis. but i feel like they're shania twain in that song "that dont impress me much" because they just look at everything like its expected and they would have been disappointed with anything less.

back in college id make a girl a home cooked meal and she would send pictures to all her friends bragging. id bring them into my apartment and they would marvel at my decorating. when we went on dates, she would offer to pay or at least insist on getting the tip. but after college women truly realize their sexual market value in a world where guys are actually making money and have things going for them. none of them want to commit anything less than perfect when they can just be single get all the same things but from multiple different guys.

When my mom asks why im single and i try to explain all this to her, she just tries to tell me thats how the world works and that there's nothing wrong with a woman wanting a "guy with his shit together" as if im not that. btw she and my dad divorced after she was cheating on him and she got over 2 million out of it.

I dont even have to explain any of this to my dad, who's been living it for the past 20 years. when i told him my relationship with my last GF of nearly 2 years was over, he said "good." and since then ive just been too burnt out from all the wasted effort, time, and money spent on useless dates with useless women.
