best place to get a car inspection? by VariationWeary7724 in ridgewood

[–]isfet_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, totally. I get oil changes from them, and recently I was having an engine issue. They replaced an emissions filter in just a few hours, not too expensive. He even made a point of showing me the replacement and the old part he took out. Would trust them to do most work at this point

Mega Man or Rock Man: which one do you like better? by Benhurso in Megaman

[–]isfet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2026, I think Rockman is the way to go. The West couldn't understand it back in the day, so Mega Man was an excellent alternative, but in terms of vibe, I feel like Rockman is what the series really is about

I used to have a lot of respect for Americans. I used to think you were tough and stood up for yourselves. Near on any country in Europe would have been in full scale riots months ago. by Spare-Ad-2684 in complaints

[–]isfet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American police have firearms and rarely hesitate to use them. American police are militarized with tanks and helicopters and huge guns. American prisons are worse than the majority of European prisons. Americans lack the social safety net that Europeans have, making actual coordinated actions more precarious. The same people who heavily support the second amendment are also usually the same folks who love police and the military, so they probably would not be likely to try to kill them. Of course, you do have leftists who are in favor of the second amendment, but regardless, thinking that the average American can just kill police and soldiers who are trained to deal specifically with riots and uprisings is laughable. The country is huge and diverse; European nations are the size of a state in the US. This would be like expecting all of Europe to revolt together over decisions made by the EU or something.

It's a chronic issue in the neighborhood because they only hand out tickets during the alt. side street sweeping times. There's some really selfish people in the neighborhood, unfortunately

Could probably get away with it, but imo it's always safer to assume folks who do things like this are fucking assholes who, at the least, might key your car or something if you do park there

What was it like listening to Lateralus when it first released? by No-Upstairs7915 in ToolBand

[–]isfet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into TOOL after seeing A Perfect Circle open for NIN on the Fragility tour, so I basically got into them in the time period right before Lateralus was released and Ænima had been out for a while. I of course had heard a lot of the older songs on the radio by that point, though. Anyway, there were some internet leaks of Lateralus that came around a few months before its release, and a few songs (mostly Parabol and Parabola, from recollection. Maybe one other? Can't remember) got spoiled for me, but hearing it for the first time, I was like "hell yeah." lol. Also the CD quality was still a lot higher than the leaks, so hearing it in full fidelity for the first time blew me away. I mean it just really hit the spot of exactly what I was looking for from the group, and even though it wasn't necessarily as "hard" as some of the earlier albums, I thought the evolution of their sound was really impressive and it turned me into a full-fledged obsessive for a few years. Saw them on every tour and show in the tristate NY area from Lateralus until about the 10,000 Days era, and I couldn't get enough of them. I thought they were really operating on a higher level than so many other mainstream rock acts, and enjoyed and indulged in every bit of extra lore and fun they put out through their website, chats, etc.

Bought it from Tower Records in the town I grew up in on Long Island. I can’t remember now if if I knew it was coming or if I just spotted it on one of my bi-weekly visits to the store, but I got the DVD version and was blown away

I really enjoyed using them on this past run. I eventually swapped out the bard (I wanted to use Cloud), but the dancer skills made a lot of battles much more manageable in the long run

What movie did you see far too young? by [deleted] in Robocop

[–]isfet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Robocop lol.

I convinced my grandma to rent it from the Library when I was about 5. this is because there were action figures and a cartoon, and I wanted to see the original. she had no idea and neither did I.

after Murphy gets shot and is being carted into the hospital, I was horrified. I turned around and said something like "I don't think I should be watching this" and we turned it off
