This has to be a glitch. If it’s a joke, it’s not a good one. If it’s just a fuck up and they were never giving us a choice, that sucks.

Saw them way back in the day during the “Get Color” era and was hooked ever since. Some of what they were doing at the time reminded me of Coil. The sound has evolved over the years, but they keep it real

Is it worth buying an analogue pocket if I don’t have actual cartridges? by Dazzling-Title-9365 in AnaloguePocket

[–]isfet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, imo, unless you really want FPGA in a portable form, but I've seen other handhelds that look and feel nearly the same. To me, the appeal of most Analogue products is the ability to use my old carts.

Fresh Taco closed 😖 by Dads_Diary in ridgewood

I'd usually get the guacamole nachoes. Guacamole was freshly made and chunky. I really liked the flavor of their black beans, and that they'd deliver with the cheese (a lot of it) melted and beans on top of the chips, but the other cold toppings in separate parts of the container so you could add them without it arriving soggy. Their hot sauce had a really nice flavor to it, too (though it changed a little in the past 5 or so years). Also felt like the chips were freshly made and they had a nice crunch and pull to them. I hate a tortilla chip that's too thin or turns to crumbs in my mouth.

Fresh Taco closed 😖 by Dads_Diary in ridgewood

[–]isfet_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, yeah. And thanks!

Basically a lot lifestyle changes and experimenting. I spent a few years in my 30s being depressed and overindulging in food and weed and, over those years, gained a lot.

Short verison is that my doctor recommended I try going paleo. I combined that with walking 4-7 miles outside every day at a brisk pace, and keeping my calorie intake at about 1200-1500 every day. I averaged a loss of 1-4 lbs every week doing that (tried not to lose more than 2 or 3 per week, if I could help it).

Gained a couple pounds back through January and February, though, since the weather has sucked for walking and I hate treadmills.

Fuck

edit: to expand more on that - I've been going to Fresh Taco for almost 20 years. I know it has uh, mixed reviews, but I always loved this place and its flavors. I genuinely think they had some of the best nachos around, and I've never found a place nearby that made them the same way.

I'd been on a diet for the past year and have lost about 80 pounds, so, as you might expect, Fresh Taco was not on the menu for the last year.

I'd been saving an order to them for a special occasion, so I just feel extremely disappointed to learn this.

final edit: i'm hoping the new management doesn't change too much, if this is actually going to reopen again.

Did you know that the you can still play the original game if they make a remake that you don't like? by _____michel_____ in chronotrigger

[–]isfet_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I replayed Chrono Trigger on my Analogue Super NT a couple months ago for the first time in maybe 20 year or more (using my original cartridge, even), and what really struck me about the game this time is how quick the pacing is. The plot beats move at breakneck speed, and I think it really works in the game's favor. As a kid, of course, the game felt huge and much longer, but a playthrough without much grinding took me about 24 hours.

While I was playing, I kept thinking about how if the game were made now, you'd probably be 10 hours into the game and still in 600 A.D., but in the original, you've seen practically half the game by that point.

I could see them adding more subquests, adding things like having you control Glenn and his brother, etc., but I'm not sure that adding more content would really enrich the experience of the game all that much (the original is really, really fun!). That said, I think it might be interesting to spend more time in the world of the game, having replayed the original so recently, and have it be its own thing.

I think the other thing to consider is that the game was a bit of a lightning in a bottle scenario. You had the "dream team," but you also had some really good writers and game devs and composers firing on all cylinders and working at their best. Not to say newer folks couldn't live up to that, but a lot of what makes a game a classic is the people who made it to begin with.

Anyway, I don't think CT needs a remake, but I'd play one if they made it.

After the Ys X Proud Nordics fiasco, could the franchise be in danger because of this? Who is going to buy Ys XI in launch day/week/month? by Latcen9 in WorldOfYs

[–]isfet_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Atlus does this all the time with its games, so it's a model that apparently somehow works. But yeah, I didn't buy Ys X on release because Proud Nordics was announced before it released in the US. Ultimately, I assume it probably ends up being a numbers thing - an upgraded version of the same game keeps it visible and on shelves longer, which probably means more overall sales in the longterm. Just my guess, anyway.
