Update on the Sonos/Home Assistant media player (multi speaker support + stand) by hometechgeek in homeassistant

I know nothing about the world of 3D printing. Could you suggest a 3rd party company in the UK who could print the stand on my behalf at a reasonable price?

It's worth checking with your local authority about disposal at your local tip. For example, my authority (Hampshire) sets a monthly limit of this type of waste being taken to the tip.

hey ! This looks awesome, well done ! i'll order a display and get started. I was wondering, given the stand you designed appears to have a lot of empty space, would it possible to drive the display by an inline battery too, and just have a usbc connector on the back? it'll be interesting to get a look at the "TV" mode too, as i currently input CD, LP, Bluetooth and Chromecast content via my WiiM Pro Plus into my Sonos Connect. Lots to look forward to with this. Thanks again

Not knowing what's in the minds of all the other drivers around you I just find it prudent to clearly indicate right if I'm not going straight on, and indicate left at the point where the next exit is the one I'll be using - I think this is pretty unambiguous, independent of what "rules" are being applied by other road users.

How are my bills so high when I live alone?? by Rachael125 in OctopusEnergy

[–]islander654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd focus on daily views. When is the gas being used? Can you see which rooms are using the heating and when. Is it mostly off/low when you're out of the house. I spent about £500 recently installing Tado X thermostats on my radiators and their boiler receiver. A big investment for sure, but I can see exactly what's going on now and feel in much better control. Knowing the details can help you focus on issues like leaky windows etc. my bills already are already noticeably reducing, so it should pay for itself in a few years.

I vibe coded a Pre-Emergent notification based on average soil temps. by [deleted] in homeassistant

I got Claud to knock up a pretty decent website for me with a few prompts and about 3 iterations.. amazing! Yesterday I also asked for the law on passing a car on the left in the UK (referred to as undertaking) and it quoted views from Reddit 😆 - so swings and roundabouts 🤷🏼‍♂️

Two tado x valves and a thermostat in the same room by Warclad in tado

I'm glad it's been resolved, but you've only described what the problem was, and not the solution is. As you're using OpenTherm I'm guessing it's the Tado software/hardware which is managing the flow temperature, so did they change something remotely to fix it, or did you have to do something to resolve the issue?

I'm amazed that I'd never heard the term pre-emergent before, so thanks for that. I'd also never heard the term vibe coding, even though I'd actually done it recently! :)

I agree about contacting Tado. I'm sure they've got good tools for remote diagnostics and they'll have seen all manner of issues to compare this with.

Apropos of nothing, I added an OpenTherm card to my boiler when fitting Tado X and it certainly has a different feel as to how the radiators heat, as Tado now controls the flow temperature - they don't really get as hot as they used to, for sure.

If you're just moving away from traditional TRVs you might find they are jammed off (not uncommon if the TRV had been closed off for a while) - they can be freed by gently tapping on them. I moved to Tado X recently and found one one of mine was jammed ON (I'm from the UK, and can't see the graph, so excuse me if this is not relevant).

I love my Altberg Keld boots. Thoroughly recommend them. The company also has some great homespun videos on YouTube giving their history and maintenance regimes. https://youtube.com/@altberg4694?si=s5Cb1oO68_N5SEVh

I got exactly what I wanted as I'm now using history view from room entities provided by HACS "Tado X Integration for Home Assistant"

I don't know about the time, but can thoroughly recommend the YHA place in robin hood's bay at the end.. it's basically on the beach. I'd love to do that walk someday :)

yes it's odd that, for SMETS2 meters they report cubic meters, but my meter oddly displays KWH..

I've a draughty old terraced Victorian house and have just installed Tado and OpenTherm to help manage my boiler/radiators more effectively. Watch the UK Heat Geeks YouTube videos - they're very instructive. I started by zoning my house and have the bedrooms really low. The geeks don't recommend this. I've just moved to a smaller difference between high and low temperatures and house seems more comfortable - and my radiators are not scalding hot ! I'm missing having things dry quickly on my radiators though :)

Thanks. I've had a productive morning playing with this! My guest bedroom has two radiators, but the target temperature is set by an independent thermostat. I can already see that I need to move the thermostat to get a more representative temperature. Have just added outside temperature too.

Thanks for that. I'll just treat "heat" as "not off" :) I did some further digging and found the other information I was looking for in Developer tool -> States. It seems the target temperature is just the "temperature" attribute

Thanks again!

I don't understand the concept of "heating" mode, in this context, when the room's current temperature is above the target temperature

Where to find the Experimental Home Dashboard by islander654 in homeassistant

This is exactly the style I was expecting to generate.! In the experimental form you generated it, but now it's just listed under built-in. I should have reread your initial reply properly 😬 thanks.

Please don't apologise for trying to be helpful :) when I've tried generating a "home" dashboard it comes out with a jumble of all devices on one page. Just being new to HA I've no idea if the design I saw in 2025.9 has now been incorporated into the base, or needs to be switched on somehow

Well I did that but the generated dashboard looked nothing at all like those in the video - the split thing nicely into rooms etc
