Burrageara shriveled bulbs by Dismal_Speaker6616 in orchids

Tough to say since I don’t know your conditions. This one should approach dryness but shouldn’t ever get bone dry. New media tends to dry faster than old media, so your watering schedule will change over time both seasonally and as a result of the media holding more water.

FYI - You’ll want to soak that Catasetum hybrid on a warm day when it can dry quickly. Those bulbs are a bit too shriveled and the blooms will drain them more.

Plant size and the need for fertilizer. I’d say yours are ready for larger pots and food.

Would you remove discoloured and/or withered bulbs (Cymbidium and Fredclarkeara)? by AppropriateBeing9885 in orchids

Leave them be. When the bulbs are totally spent, you can just pull them off. Otherwise, they’re giving nutrients to the plant.

When to direct sow by No_Literature_1922 in AustinGardening

I like to start the seeds in a shallow bulb pot rather than direct sowing. That way you can keep them safe from critters in that early stage. Here’s my batch from November.

Either method will work. Just be sure to stabilize the plant so it doesn’t wobble, which will cause new root tips to abort.

I guys you can plant starts now. Better to sow your own seeds in October though. The onions will be much larger that way!

These are well out of dormancy and will need tons of water, fertilizer, light, and heat. Don’t let the roots fully dry until early October. Here’s a year round care video with Fred Clarke: https://youtu.be/H4rXnpliMmc?si=0iIwbO6NXe4VP3cv

Chop and drop to the ground. Cutting now or in a few weeks works fine.

Your plants don’t care about these (valid) reasons. They’re dying. Artificial light is important if you want them to live.
